Inside the chaos of Super Bowl LIX opening night as the Chiefs and Eagles take over New Orleans
Sleep trucks descended on Sunday evening in the French neighborhood of New Orleans. Their job, according to an amused room? Drain the streets of vehicles and clear the road for an invasion.
More than 100,000 fans are expected to descend on this pelvis prior to Super Bowl Sunday, when the Chiefs of Kansas City can make history and the Philadelphia Eagles can take revenge.
The countdown started on Monday evening, when both teams, copper bands and few thousand fans met in Caesar’s Superdome for ‘opening night’.
No city has had more exercise than New Orleans when dealing with the NFL caravan. This is the 11th Super Bowl here. It is nothing new for the people and tow trucks from Louisiana.
They know what can go wrong – 12 years ago the lights went out in the super dome and 34 minutes Super Bowl Sunday was lost by Black -Out. They also know that some things do not change.
The Chiefs are here for the fifth time in six seasons and on Monday evening most cameras and most microphones swarmed around one chair. Just as they did in Las Vegas last year.

Rival Quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes meet in the seasonal leap on Sunday
Shortly before 9 p.m. Travis Kelce took a seat on stage four and resumed the chaos.
Groundhog Day came and went during the weekend and yet in New Orleans a feeling of Deja VU until Monday evening. The same faces. The same goal. The same questions about glory and records and Taylor Swift.
On Monday evening alone, Kelce was asked four times to name his favorite Kendrick Lamar number. Except, of course, there is so much different. The chiefs can become the first team in the history of Super Bowl, that three wins on the spider.
More importantly, so much has changed here since the turn of the year, when Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove his truck to Bourbon St and this city was destroyed by a deadly terror attack. Last month New Orleans became white after the toughest snowstorm since 1895. Only a few days ago did a plane fall from the air in Philadelphia.
These are difficult, different times. And it is against this background of tragedy and trauma that New Orleans hosts for old rivals.
The Chiefs and the Eagles meet two years after Super Bowl LVII, when Kansas City 38-35 won in Glendale, Arizona. Kelce is still there. This also applies to Quarterback Patrick Mahomes. This also applies to head coach Andy Reid and much of his selection.
The Eagles are still led by Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni, too. But since February 2023 they have lost Jason Kelce and won a new superstar.
It was no coincidence that the seat of the stage four was still warm when Kelce arrived. A scrum of reporters had just spent an hour picking the brain of Saquon Barkley.

The running has enjoyed a remarkable first season in Philadelphia. He will be Sunday 28 and can enjoy the best gift of all.
These are the weeks that Barkley has always dreamed of, but he could never have imagined that the questions have argued on the super dome.
Barkley was asked about his favorite Nickelodeon show and how he keeps things fresh in the bedroom ‘. Yes, really.
He discussed quesadillas and bunker recordings. He received a helmet and birthday towel and a necklace with the text: ‘MVP’. That is par for the course in this circus.
On Monday evening, players were asked to sing AC/DC and play rock paper scissors. They were asked if they were playing Wordel and which team the Luka Doncic trade got better.
Sirianni received a bag of fan mail from Mexico City; Kelce was asked for the game plan of the chiefs dressed by a man like Sirianni. NFL Quarterback Jameis Winston made a few cameets, largely involved throwing cookies.
‘Big Dom’, Chief Security Officer of the Eagles, patrol the field, but nothing could protect his players against the barrage. Buried under Drivel’s avalanche, there were moments of emotion and rough honesty.
Barkley, for example, spoke with emotion about his daughter Jada – reminiscent of how she was there for him in 2020, when he tore and learned his knee.

The cheerleaders of Kansas City Chiefs joined the players and the coaches to the SuperDome
Kelce did not shy away from his student days and a failed drug test – here in 2010 – which derailed almost everything.
The conversation will eventually stop, but ask until Sunday evening, when two great teams meet again at the SuperDome.
Can Patrick Mahomes do what Tom Brady could never and win three in a row? Can the Eagles rectify the mistakes from two years ago?
New Orleans is preparing for Mardi Gras next month, but first another party. It started on Monday evening, when Spotlights illuminated the Superdome roof and a silhouette from Julius Caesar.
The only question that everyone really has to answer? Who wears the crown on Sunday evening?
