Olivia Newton-John spent her final days in her beloved southern Californian ranch before passing away peacefully at the Santa Ynez property on Monday, surrounded by family and friends.

The beautiful four-bedroom, five-bathroom house was purchased by the Australian music icon in 2015 for US$4.69 million (approx. AU$6.7 million).

The property, built in 2008, spans across 12 acres near the Santa Ynez River and includes a guest house, a pool and a barn and stables for horses.

Inside the main house, the interior features a ’70s Western ranch aesthetic with wooden roof panels and brown leather furniture.

The spacious living area flows into the dining room and kitchen where Olivia know doubt created fond memories with family and friends.

A gorgeous piano also sits in the common area for the musician to entertain.

Records show Newton-John transferred full ownership of the estate to her husband, who then re-financed the mortgage with US$2.5 million (approx. AU$3.6 million) still left on the home

The main house on the property has a total of four bedrooms and five bathrooms, while the guesthouse has two bedrooms.

The outdoor area also boasts a kitchen, next to the swimming pool. There are also areas to lounge or dine alfresco and for the actress to soak in the breathtaking views.

Olivia listed her beloved ranch for US$5.4 million (approx. AU$7.7 million) back in 2019.

According to Village Properties Realtors, who held the listing at the time, the Xanadu singer and her husband loved the area but were ready to downsize.

‘Olivia and her husband wish to downsize now but have loved their time on the ranch here, and as a testament to the area, they wish to stay in Santa Ynez for their California landing spot,’ a realtor told TODAY at the time.

But the property was ultimately taken off the market as the entertainer decided to spend her last days in the home.

Just one month after listing the California home, Newton-John listed her leafy Australian villa, located in the town of Dalwood in the Australian countryside; it sold a month later for a whopping $4.6 million.

The 189-acre farm was purchased by Olivia in the 1980’s, but she waited until 2002 to rebuild the main house, which she did in the style of a French or Italian villa.

The compound is less than a half-hour’s drive to the Northern NSW coastal town of Ballina and 40 minutes from Byron Bay.

Many attribute Byron Bay’s popularity to Newton-John, who started her award-winning Gaia Retreat & Spa there in 2005.

Before she started the healing center, the now-famous town was little known to the rest of the world, despite now being home to the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Elsa Pataky and Elle MacPherson.

She put the retreat up for sale last year, after it swept the World Luxury Hotel Awards. The entertainer announced in a statement that she was ready to ‘pass the baton’ to new owners.

The sales helped Newton-John invest more into her ventures and foundations before she passed away.

The late actress established the Olivia Newton-John Cancer & Wellness Center at Melbourne’s Austin Hospital in 2012, at a cost of $189 million, though she was aided by federal and state funding.

She also started the Olivia Newton-John Foundation in the last few years, which she created to ‘fund research into kinder ways to treat cancer, to prevent cancer and to live well with cancer,’ she told Forbes in 2020.

The actress also had a beachfront property in Jupiter, Florida, that she purchased in 2009 for US$4.1 million (approx. AU$5.8 million).

She then sold the Palm Beach County house for US$5 million (approx. AU$7.1 million) in 2016.

The home was the site of a grisly scene in 2013, when 41-year-old Christopher Pariseleti, a contractor working on the house who didn’t know Newton-John, walked in and fatally shot himself.

Olivia was first diagnosed with cancer 30 years ago, battling breast cancer in 1992.

After recovering from her diagnosis and undergoing a partial mastectomy and reconstruction, Olivia was diagnosed again with breast cancer in 2013 but chose to keep it private.

In 2017, a tumour was found at the base of the singer’s spine.
