Inside Ron and Casey DeSantis’ ‘powerful’ meeting with 9/11 families

Ron and Casey DeSantis met with eight families who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks and heard their concerns about Donald Trump hosting a Saudi Arabian-funded golf tournament over Memorial Day Weekend.

The son of a 9/11 victim told DailyMail.com that Republicans are finding it hard to forgive the former president for taking Saudi Arabia’s money, despite allegations that the Middle Eastern country was behind the 11 terrorist attacks. September 2001 Sat.

It comes after Ron DeSantis entered the race against Trump and as he and wife Casey hosted Gold Star and military families, veterans and victims of 9/11 for a Memorial Day BBQ on Sunday.

During DeSantis’ pomp and circumstance for military families and veterans, Trump hosted the LIV Tournament at his golf course outside of Washington, D.C.

“I think Republicans are willing to forgive Trump for many of his past misdeeds and misdeeds, and are willing to look the other way,” Eagleson, 37, told DailyMail.com on Monday. “But on this particular issue with, you know, taking Saudi money and giving in to foreign influence and siding with the Saudis over the families of 9/11 — I think there are a lot of Republicans who are just crossing the line on that.”

“And they don’t want to forgive them for that,” he added.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his wife Casey hosted 500 Gold Star families, military members and families, those who lost loved ones in the 9/11 attacks and veterans at a barbecue at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee, Florida, on Sunday.

Brett Eagleson, who lost his father in the 9/11 attacks when he was 15, told DailyMail.com that he raised with DeSantis the issue of Trump hosting a Saudi-funded golf tournament

Eagleson, who was 15 when his father died while working at the South Tower, was one of eight families of 9/11 victims who met Florida Governor DeSantis at his Memorial Day BBQ on Sunday. He is president of the organization 9/11 Justice and has spent seven years fighting for information about Saudi Arabia’s alleged role in the attacks.

The attorney told DailyMail.com that the governor and 2024 presidential candidate have heard from every person in the meeting.

A major point the families raised with Desantis was their frustration and disappointment that Trump hosted the LIV tournament, which is funded by Saudi Arabia, at his golf club just outside of Washington, DC.

Eagleson said he appreciated DeSanti’s opposing approach on Memorial Day.

“We told him about our past dealings with President Trump and we just laid out what a stark contrast it was between what he was doing that day…compared to what a former president is doing the same weekend,” Eagleson complained.

He said that while DeSantis was “hosting Gold Star family members, members of the 9/11 community and active members of the military,” the former president was “just outside the Pentagon … hosting the Saudis in a Saudi-funded golf tournament.” ‘.

“But just think, you know, that stark contrast doesn’t need any more explanation of how DeSantis feels versus how Trump feels,” he claimed. “So I thought it was really powerful and it sent an important message where the governor’s priorities are anyway.”

Eagleson confirmed to DailyMail.com that the families in the meeting on Sunday shared with DeSantis how they felt about Trump’s golf tournament — and said DeSantis appeared willing to meet with the group in the future.

“I brought that up personally,” Eagleson said. “I wanted him to be aware of that.”

Kudos to you, Mr. Governor, for hosting us and Goldstar families on Memorial Day, honoring the lives of the people who give their lives for this country as President Trump hosts a Saudi-funded golf tournament. ‘

The Navy veteran and his wife had 500 people at their Memorial Day event at the Governor’s Mansion in Tallahassee on Sunday.

After mingling with the guests, the couple made time for an hour-long conversation with families of those who lost loved ones in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Meanwhile, at Trump National in Sterling, Virginia – just outside Washington, D.C. – the former president hosted the LIV golf tournament, which is funded by Saudi Arabia.

DeSantis learned from those upset that Trump was holding the tournament.

He lamented that more than two decades after the terrorist attack, the families are still searching for answers.

“They’ve had a lot of frustration with getting justice based on the 9/11 attacks,” DeSantis told Fox and Friends Monday morning. “They are suing Saudi Arabia, they are trying to get more documents.”

“They’ve made promises in the past about getting help, and then some of our elected leaders have basically reneged on those promises,” the governor added. “And so I think they got punched in the stomach a number of times. And I think it’s been difficult to still get full justice two decades later.”
