Inside Michael Jordan’s abandoned Chicago mansion: Shock condition revealed of the $14m home the NBA star has tried to sell for 11 YEARS

Michael Jordan’s Chicagoland mansion is aging just like the homes after the MJ Bulls.

Footage of the six-time NBA championā€™s home has resurfaced in an eight-month-old TikTok clip, showing the abandoned property in complete disarray. Jordanā€™s private indoor basketball court is flooded and one of his multiple kitchens appears to be being dismantled.

The footage was recorded by an urban explorer and posted to TikTok in January, but has recently become popular on social media as well.

ā€œIt’s clearly his home,ā€ said Bruce Bowers of the Bowers Realty Group Sports Bible. ‘It’s a tough sell. It takes a lot of work to make it your own.’

Jordan listed the Highland Park, Illinois property in 2012 for $29 million, according to Zillow. The price was lowered to $16 million in 2013 and has been at $14.8 million for the past few years.

Of course, the home includes a cigar room for the billionaire tobacco lover. Thereā€™s also an infinity pool, putting green and tennis court, not to mention a 7.39-acre lot surrounding the nine-bedroom, 19-bath, 32,683-square-foot palace.

Since his retirement, Jordan has lived primarily in his hometown of North Carolina, but he has also been spotted occasionally with his wife, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, on a yacht in the Mediterranean.

In August 2023, Jordan ended his 13-year reign as owner of the Hornets by transferring his majority interest in the franchise to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin.

The sale to Schnall and Plotkin would be worth a staggering $3 billion, representing a huge profit for the 61-year-old considering he shelled out $275 million to buy the team in 2010.

Jordan remains the minority owner of the Hornets.

And after cashing in his majority stake in Charlotte, Jordan is on Forbes’ list of the 400 richest Americans in the US.

His net worth is said to have surpassed $3 billion, making him the first athlete ever to be included in Forbes’ exclusive club.

Jordan remains the richest athlete in history, after combining his iconic NBA career with some of the biggest off-court commercial deals ever.

The most famous of these brand collaborations is of course the one with Nike, with whom he collaborated on the Jordan brand.

The former Chicago Bulls superstar’s most recent annual royalty check from Nike was reportedly worth around $260m. He reportedly takes five percent of all revenue from his famous Air Jordan sneakers, which were first released in 1984.

In its latest annual report, Nike reported annual wholesale revenues of $6.6 billion through its Jordan brand, up 28.6 percent from the previous year.

Jordan, who earned $94 million on the court in his 15 seasons in the NBA, also has lucrative deals with clubs like McDonald’s, Gatorade and Hanes.

However, it was his astonishing sale of the Hornets for nearly 17 times their original value that has made him one of the richest individuals in the United States.

He is one of only three athletes in history to become billionaires, along with basketball star LeBron James and golf legend Tiger Woods, the latter two of whom achieved this while still in their active careers.

Jordan also co-owns a NASCAR team, which includes Bubba Wallace’s No. 23 car.

Wallace finished third on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.
