Inside John Terry’s growing property empire as star sells plans for pair of Surrey mansions on exclusive estate for a cool £5 million

John Terry has pocketed more than £5million after selling plots for two mansions he planned to build, MailOnline can reveal.

The former England footballer, 43, bought the £4.5million property several years ago and demolished it in preparation for building a six-bedroom house and another five-bedroom house after gaining planning permission.

Oxshott’s plot is part of the Crown Estate, one of the most exclusive estates in the country. Terry has been involved in the development of several luxury homes.

Both properties will include a kitchen/diner, family room, lounge, dining room, bar, dressing room and private lounge, gallery, games room and terrace, while the six-bed property will also include a swimming pool and gym.

Land registry documents obtained by MailOnline show one plot was sold for £2.75 million and another plot for £2.15 million.

Photos from the Oxshott site show that one of the houses has now been completed and new buyers appear to have moved in, while the other remains a blank canvas.

Both plots had planning permission for the new homes in place and one of the new buyers built the property to specification according to the plans of Terry’s development company Blueco Estates.

A planning application has been submitted by the new owners of the second plot, who want to change the roof shape of a triple garage and change all the dormer windows of the Georgian grandeur building.

The planning documents state: ‘The proposals provide for a building form that, in terms of size, scale, layout, height and design, is in keeping with the established character and appearance of the surrounding area.

‘The new home will be a sustainable development that includes energy efficiency measures, such as green energy solutions.’

They previously submitted plans for external changes including increasing the size and height of pillars and columns above the front door and new chimneys.

According to a development company Terry worked with on the project, one of the homes is described as “8,500 sq. ft. new construction” and the other as “11,500 sq. ft. new construction.”

Terry has a flair for property development and has been involved in three other projects in the nearby Crown Estate in Oxshott, one of Britain’s most exclusive residential areas.

Firstly, he bought a six-bed family home in 2002, before selling it for £5 million in 2013.

The retired footballer then bought a neighboring nine-bedroom mansion for £1.8 million in 2007 and spent a further £4 million renovating it, even building a fishing lake in the backyard.

He was planning to move into the brand new white mansion, but then out of the blue he got an offer from the Omani royal family.

The footballer sold his former home (below) in January 2014 for £16 million. He planned to live in the property with his family, having built it next to his original Oxshott house (above), which he sold in 2013.

Terry made a £10 million profit by selling the luxury home to General Sultan bin Mohammed al-Naamani, a senior minister of the Arab state – who reportedly bought it for his boss Sultan Qaboos bin Said in January 2014.

He then acquired golfer Colin Montgomerie’s six-bedroom home for £6.5 million in 2014, which features a two-bed staff annexe, four reception rooms and six bathrooms.

Terry spent money converting Montie’s putting green into a swimming pool and outdoor kitchen.

However, in February 2017, the family home was broken into by four Arsenal fans after the footballer shared an Instagram photo from a family skiing holiday.

The burglars defecated at the foot of their bed during the £400,000 raid as they vandalized the house.

Darren Eastaugh, 30, Joshua Sumer, 27, Roy Head, 28, and Oliver Hart, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.

The conspiracy involved seven burglaries in Surrey and Sussex, with the total loss from all burglaries being £600,000. All four were sentenced to a total of 27 years and 11 months in prison at Kingston Crown Court in 2017.

The house was later sold after he deducted half a million pounds from the £5.5 million asking due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Terry later bought a sprawling seven-bedroom 18th-century property for £4.1 million in 2019.

He bought the house – set in eight acres of woods – in the summer, out of season, after he stopped playing.

The Chelsea Academy coach sold the house last year for a whopping £23million, making a profit of £20million.

The estate agent described the Terrys’ property as an ‘elegant and imposing historic country house’.

The description of the property read: ‘It is a beautiful 18th century country house of brick and flint which has been sympathetically extended over the years.

‘The property is accessed via a private driveway and is well positioned within the grounds to take advantage of the views over the gardens.

‘It is unusual that a building of this age and status is not listed.

‘The original part of the house was built in 1752 and extensions were later added in the 20th century.’

He has been married to wife Toni since 2007 and in 2006 they welcomed twins Summer and Georgie, now 17.
