Inside Joe Wilkinson and Katherine Ryan’s friendship as comedy duo reunite for budget travel show

Joe Wilkinson teamed up with fellow comedian Katherine Ryan for their brand new Channel 4 travel show which premiered last Thursday.

Joe And Katherine’s Bargain Holidays hilariously chronicles the friends, aged 48 and 40, who take budget trips around Britain and Europe.

It shows the different ways the pair travel, with Joe wanting to return ‘with money still on his hip’, while Katherine ‘loves the finer things in life’.

For Katherine, a good trip includes luxury accommodations, good food and maybe a day at the spa. Joe, on the other hand, is one of the more frugal among us.

MailOnline takes a look at the wonderful friendship between Joe Wilkinson and Katherine Ryan.

Despite their travel differences, the two have been friends for years and also have personal projects.

Joe’s podcast Chatabix with comedian David Earl sees him ‘talking utter nonsense to each other three days a week’, while Katherine’s podcast, also available on Apple, is titled Katherine Ryan: Telling everyone everything.

Joe told Heat magazine: ‘We started doing stand-up at the same time, and then we started doing other shows together, so we’ve been friends for a long time.”

Katherine told the publication that Joe had long been one of her favorite comedians, describing him as “authentic” and “definitely unique,” while Joe claimed, “I always felt like the Karate Kid to her, Mr. Miyagi.” .

Since the two first met, they have made numerous television appearances together, including on BBC’s Taskmaster.

The Canadian comedian would like Joe to take up the good life because she had to put up with his frugality.

Like Joeshe regularly appears on popular British panel shows and they have both appeared on 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

But this time the comedians, who are no strangers to Channel 4, have teamed up to deliver a show about how to make the most of your money abroad.

This comes after Katherine admitted her ‘marriage had taken a back seat’ when she opened up about her relationship with childhood sweetheart Bobby Kootstra on Lorraine in February.

The mother of three admitted that her children come first and she likes to spend as much time with them as possible, including co-sleeping.

Katherine shares two children Fenna Grace, 14 months, and Fred, two, with her partner, as well as Violet 14, with ex-boyfriend Alex Edelman.

Speaking on the ITV daytime show, ahead of the release of her new docuseries, Katherine Ryan: Parental Guidance, she said she was still “navigating” parenthood and struggling with her mother’s guilt.

She told Lorraine Kelly: ‘I have a great life because I do exactly what is right for the family and I welcome the haters.’
