Inside Hugh Jackman’s $12million Bondi bachelor pad as he splits from wife Deborra-Lee Furness

Hugh Jackman could be spending more time in Australia following the announcement that he and wife Deborra-Lee Furness are splitting up.

The Australian actor, 54, has an impressive property portfolio spread across the United States and Down Under, including a stunning $12 million North Bondi penthouse in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Jackman purchased the luxury low-rise apartment in 2015 for $5.9 million.

The decision to secure the plush base at Bondi wasn’t surprising, as the Wolverine star is often spotted on the beach when he visits his home country.

“We are blessed to have had a beautiful, loving marriage together as husband and wife for nearly three decades,” they said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

“Our journey is now changing and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth,” the couple explained as the reason for ending their marriage.

“Our family is and always will be our top priority,” the statement continued. “We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love and kindness.”

They also added, “We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition throughout our lives.”

The shocking news of the longtime couple’s divorce came Friday. The couple is seen in April

The Australian couple share two adult children together: son Oscar and daughter Ava.

Jackman briefly spoke to paparazzi on the street on Saturday and admitted that he and his soon-to-be ex-wife are struggling with their divorce.

While walking down a street, he announced that “it’s a tough time,” but declined to talk further about the breakup.

Last April, the couple had just celebrated their anniversary and Jackman posted a sparkling tribute to his wife on Instagram.

“I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 years! I love you so much,” the actor wrote in his caption.

‘Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your smile, your spirit, generosity, humor, boldness, courage and loyalty are an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart,” he shared in the heartfelt post.
