Inside Brad Pitt’s new $5.5m home as he swaps his $39m compound for ‘Steel House’

Brad Pitt has made the ultimate Los Angeles home exchange with oil heiress Aileen Getty after she snapped up his $39 million property.

The actor, 59, has decided to downsize his Los Feliz estate and bought philanthropist Aileen’s $5.5 million three-bedroom home known as the “Steel House.”

It marks a new chapter for Brad. The Babylon star sold his property three decades after acquiring the property from horror icon Elvira for $1.7 million.

He lived there with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie and their six children.

Now, Soil reports that Brad has bought the Steel House – a much more humble home compared to his sprawling estate that includes an ice rink, skate park, ballroom and home theater.

Nevertheless, it is a stunning 2,000-foot home created in 1960 by mid-century architect Neil M. Johnson.

It was nicknamed the Steel House because of its steel construction with huge glass panels that help create breathtaking views of Los Angeles.

Aileen, the granddaughter of the late oil tycoon J. Paul Getty, has made a profit from the sale of the house after buying it from James Valentine of Maroon 5 in 2019.

The L-shaped house is incredibly luxurious. It wraps around a huge swimming pool with tropical landscaping and stunning views that look down to the bustling city below.

There’s also a hot tub and sauna – perfect for an at-home spa experience.

The hardness of the steel frame inside, meanwhile, is softened by the addition of patterned rugs, cozy fireplaces, soft furnishings and bold colors.

Maroon 5’s Valentine hired designer Mark Haddawy to restore the property after purchasing it in 2007.

The bedrooms have walk-in closets and bright blue carpets, while there is a terrace that offers a cozy reading spot.

Brad sold his $39 million estate last month. The property was originally on the market in January for $45 million, but it’s unclear what led to the price drop.

Pitt famously lived in the house with his ex-wife Angelina and their six children prior to their split in 2016, but he also lived there independently for many years.

Tucked away in a gated community, Brad’s impressive Hollywood Hills estate has a rich history spanning over 110 years.

It was reportedly built by an oil baron in 1910 and is where rock legend Jimmy Hendrix wrote his 1967 hit May This Be Love.

Brad has spent years renovating and building new additions to the property with a team of world-class architects and designers.

The Interview With A Vampire star is said to have been very involved in the design process to create his perfect abode.

To expand the area, he bought a number of adjacent plots.

The main house of the property is a whopping 6,700 square feet with five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

There are two swimming pools on the right side of the property with a Jacuzzi as well as a large koi pond.

On the left is a skate park with a full pipe.

Stunning: the kitchen is now light blue / green and is located close to the open living room

Walk-in Closet: There is ample closet space for all of Brad’s suits, leather jackets and sunglasses

Impressive: Wood and quirky artwork feature throughout the property, giving the home a mid-century modern feel

Cozy: There is a huge dining room that is the perfect place to entertain

There’s also a movie theater, a garage for Brad’s motorcycle collection, and at least four guest houses.

And the actor let his 105-year-old neighbor live rent-free on his estate for years, Elvira star Cassandra Peterson has revealed in a new interview with People.

The Oscar winner was the perfect neighbor for his elderly friend after his wife passed away, allowing him to become a tenant of the estate.

Peterson, 71, who became neighbors next door to Pitt after she sold him her home in 1994, said Pitt built his estate by acquiring surrounding properties, one of which belonged to a man in his early 90s.

She said, “He was very, very nice to the man. His wife passed away and the husband, John, lived there. I know Brad allowed him to live there without paying anything until he died.

“It was kind of funny because John turned 105. I imagine Brad was thinking well, you know, he can live there until he dies, which could be any minute now.

Peterson said the actor was always “nice and sweet” to her throughout their years as neighbors, revealing that she “almost passed out” when she saw the star punch shirtless and a sack in preparation for the 1999 movie Fight Club.

She added, “I remember him saying, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and I’m like “Huh?” I couldn’t talk. I turned red. I felt like I was going to pass out,” she continues. “He’s just so stunning, stunningly handsome—and nice, to top it off.”

Pitt reportedly has a $100 million real estate portfolio, which includes his half of the $160 million French winery he co-owns with his ex-wife Angelina.
