Bargain Hunt presenter Caroline Hawley shares a glimpse inside her stunning Yorkshire home, complete with a huge collection of designer dresses and even a large room for her antiques business.
Chat with The Yorkshire PostThe 57-year-old antiques expert recalled a particular find at a flea market: ‘I had almost given up looking for anything else, but at a stall I saw this piece of old black cloth lying on the floor. I carefully picked it up and there, without a doubt, was this unmistakable label.’
The much-loved presenter, who has presented the BBC programme since 2013, reminisced about one of her best bargains: ‘I turned to the man on the stand and asked how much he wanted for it.
‘He shook his head a little and said in a lovely Yorkshire accent, ‘I want four quid for it, darling, it’s Dior, I know that!’ I can say I took it home with me.’
The presenter also runs a successful antiques business called Hawleys Auctioneers, with much of the business based in a large Georgian room in her home, which was once the living room of the Albion Inn.

The presenter also runs a successful antiques business called Hawleys Auctioneers, which is housed in a large Georgian room that once served as the front parlour of the Albion Inn.
But long before Caroline became a bargain expert, she studied drama in London as a teenager, aspiring to a career as an actress.
However, after leaving London, the TV star opened her first store Penny Farthing antiques, in South Cave.
Caroline is now happily married to her husband John Hawley, who was once a professional footballer but was first married to Phil, as the ex-couple have two sons: James and Charles.
After welcoming her children, the hostess decided to study French to broaden her career opportunities.
Eventually she reached She graduated from the University of Hull and kept the business running smoothly while still being a working mother.
Caroline now lives happily in the building with former footballer John, 70, together with their sweet brown labrador.
The couple have been married for over ten years and organise four major auctions a year at Beverley Racecourse, where they also provide professional services and advice to art collectors.
John made a name for himself playing for Hull City, Leeds United, Bradford City and even Arsenal until he retired in 1986, and also saved someone’s life during the stadium fire in 1985.

‘I soon started selling little things of my own, but always for local charities. There was also a tip we discovered, as kids, where people from decades ago had just thrown things away, broken bits and pieces, old glass bottles for soft drinks, that sort of thing,’ Caroline said

The Bargain Hunt also shared how her passion for antiques began, saying she started by going to auctions to sell items in her village hall.
“I quickly started selling little things of my own, but always for local charities. There was also a tip we discovered, as kids, where people from decades ago would just take broken bits and pieces, old glass bottles for soda, things like that,” she said.
During his footballing heyday, her husband John played for Arsenal, Hull City, Scunthorpe United and Bradford City. While playing for Bradford City, he saved a life during the 1985 stadium fire.
