Former Australian footballer Ivan Kelic has put his home on the market, with experts predicting the property will sell for $22 million.

Kelic describes his Moonee Ponds home as a ‘labor of love’ and if it sells for the predicted price it will double the suburb’s current house price record of $10.75 million.

The property, which spans 2,284 square metres, has been owned by the former Melbourne Knights forward for the past 13 years. Records show he bought the house in 2010 for $5.25 million.

He has since overseen a glamorous renovation of the 1880s house, which is spread over three levels.

β€œAt the other end of town (like Toorak) houses like this on this size would cost around $40 to $50 million,” says Joe Zucco of McDonald Upton Essendon.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that doesn’t come along very often… it’s an area that gets a lot of attention.”

The property features a home cinema, gym, solar heated pool and spa and tennis court.

There is also a spacious outdoor area with a built-in barbecue kitchen.

Mr Zucco revealed the property is attracting international interest, while wealthy individuals from Melbourne’s south-east have also inspected the house.

‘You also have a completely new product: living in resort style with a very stylish finish.’
