Influencer Sophie Cachia cheers on her ex-girlfriend and Matildas’ star Alanna Kennedy at the Women’s World Cup – after she labelled her relationship ‘toxic’ and ‘controlling’
Sophie Cachia supported ex-girlfriend and Matildas star Alanna Kennedy during the Women’s World Cup opener against Ireland on Thursday night in Sydney.
The ex-WAG turned mummy blogger, 32, attended the Group B match at Accor Stadium alongside her cousin, both wearing the signature green and gold merch to cheer on the team.
Sitting behind one of the goalposts in the stadium, Sophie captured Steph Catley’s winning goal and shared the incredible moment to her Instagram story.
She then shared a photo showing Alanna, announcing that she will head to Brisbane for Matildas’ second Group B match against Nigeria on July 27.
It comes almost a year after Sophie opened up about her complicated on-off relationship with the football star, claiming their coupling was often “toxic” and controlling – with Sophie being more submissive.

“I don’t like to use the word ‘toxic,’ but our relationship definitely showed signs of that at times, which we both contributed to,” she told Mia Freedman on the No filter podcast.
“Alanna is also an incredibly strong woman. And I’m not saying I was afraid of her for fear of my safety or anything, but I found myself cringing at someone all the time—voluntarily.”
She added, “She wasn’t the person for me, which I can accept wholeheartedly now.

“All I wanted was for her to just commit — not in terms of marital sentiment, but just say, ‘Yeah, I’m here. I love you.’ And it came very rarely.
“(We broke up) four or five times, maybe. I was broken every time. And every time I went straight back.’

Early in the couple’s romance, she left Maddie to watch international footballer Alanna – announcing the relationship was over while the two were in bed.
“Blondie and I were in bed. We had just had sex and I turned to grab my phone when it buzzed on the bedside table. “I love you baby,” read the text. “Please just come to me,” the former AFL WAG wrote.
‘Oof. This was it. I turned to the girl I’d been with for over a month, the girl I’d just slept with. “I have to go,” I said, bursting into tears. ‘I am so sorry. Nothing I can say now will make this better, but… I’m going.”
“She lost her absolute mind to me — rightly so, given my disgusting behavior — and stormed out of her house.”

Sophie revealed she was “counting down the sleeps” until she could see her fiancé Maddie in Italy in October, only to cut the holiday and relationship short and fly home “in tears”.
The author claimed that in the three months before her trip she was the happiest she had ever been.
And while she hasn’t officially elaborated on the reason for her sudden return home, her shock fracture, or why she’s deleting all traces of the blonde basketball player online, she’s alluded to issues around “trust.”
