An Australian influencer has been criticized for defending her fiancé after pulling their dog by the ear.
Mia Plecic, founder of beauty product Slick Hair Co, and her fiancé Justin Borg were sued Monday after she posted a video of him pulling their dog Maple by the ear after visiting a local park.
After the post’s backlash, 31-year-old Mia defended Justin, while also boasting about how those who dragged her down “helped her business grow.”
In her lengthy Instagram post, Mia began, “I find it utterly absurd how I have once again become the target of ‘cancelling culture’ for the most nonsensical of reasons.”
“Ironically, futile attempts to destroy my reputation inadvertently contribute to the positive trajectory of my success… It’s really laughable that they target their attacks specifically at individuals who surpass them in achievement.”

“Their mission to destroy both me and my company inadvertently plays into my hands. As evidenced by our record sales yesterday, their actions served as a catalyst to bring me new followers and customers.”
She also insisted that her dog Maple had not been “hurt” by Justin and that he led her to the car because she was eating food off the floor.
‘Maple, my beloved Groodle with a ‘garbage guts’ appetite, will devour everything in her path. When my partner, Justin, saw her eating what appeared to be rice and meat in the park garden, he acted quickly to lead her to the car, holding her floppy ear because she was temporarily uncollared,” Mia said.
‘Did it hurt her? Absolutely not. Insinuating she’s an abused dog couldn’t be further from the truth. In a hypothetically dangerous situation, I would undoubtedly repeat the same course of action.’
“Finally, her tail wagged and she experienced no harm. Nevertheless, the ruthless pursuers of a false story will take every opportunity to tarnish my name. However, their efforts are futile and will not prevail. Period of time.’

She continued, “My dogs are so loved and well cared for. But the reality is this has nothing to do with my beloved dog, it’s about taking every opportunity to personally swipe at me. An ordinary person who works ridiculously hard while having literally minuscule followers, mind you.’
Many of Mia’s followers criticized her explanation, insisting that if her dog is difficult to control, she should be on a leash.
“I’ve never seen a dog lead by its ears, aggressive or not, that’s kind of odd,” one person wrote.
“If your doggo doesn’t obey orders in public, you should keep her on a leash or at least collared so you can be sure you won’t be falsely labeled an animal abuser.”
Another agreed, adding, “Wait a minute, don’t be mad about people berating your partner for grabbing your dog by the ear.” People worry, dog ears are extremely sensitive. Can’t you imagine wishing someone grabbed you by the ears?’
In the now deleted video reposted by Instagram sleuth account Dutch Mintcan you hear Mia laughing as Justin drags Maple to the car.

“I wonder if she would laugh if she was dragged by the ear… this is cruelty,” one person commented.
‘That’s not okay! I hope the right people see this,” said another. ‘This is rancid. This must be reported,” a third agreed.
“Treated better than any other dog? My dog who has never been led by her ears strongly disagrees,” commented another.
