Influencer is slammed for ‘faking’ her own kidnapping because she was ‘bored’
An Instagram model has shared the bizarre reason she faked her own kidnapping, admitting she was simply ‘bored’ and did it ‘for fun’.
Influencer Victoria Rose, who posts under the username Whoa Vicky, had posted a series of now-deleted tweets after news circulated online that she had been kidnapped in Nigeria.
One of the tweets read: ‘I kidnapped Vicky. She is with me in Nigeria. I demand one million dollars for her release.”
However, the model came clean and revealed in an Instagram Live on Sunday that she lied about the whole thing.
“We kind of got carried away with the joke, you know, we just like to have fun and joke around,” she said in the Instagram Live, as seen in clips shared online.
“I don’t drink or go to the club, so this is how I find my entertainment,” she argued.
“You know, this is probably not the best way to do it. I’d probably like to read the Bible or something like that.’
The controversial influencer continued, adding that “sometimes you want to have a little fun.”

“The Bible says laughter is good for the soul. So I would like to laugh, and this is how I find that funny,” she said in defense of the bizarre act.
Victoria then blamed the fact that she wasn’t dating much – emphasizing ‘there aren’t many people’ she can date because of her Christian values, saying: ‘So this is kind of how I have fun.’
“But you know, we all struggle in different areas. So I’m not saying it was the right thing to do,” she acknowledged.
‘But I take responsibility and ownership. I am sorry to anyone I have harmed in the process. But it’s all love,” she added.
Yesterday, Victoria posted a photo with a man with the location tagged as Lagos, Nigeria.
Users flooded the comments section with accusatory comments, accusing her of faking her own kidnapping.
‘Lie that you were kidnapped for this? Okay,” one user commented.
“I thought she was crazy, you know what…unfollow,” another stated.
‘Lying about kidnapping is dirty work!!’ agreed with someone else.

In 2023, 26-year-old student nurse Carlee Russell pretended to be kidnapped, claiming to police that she had been abducted after stopping on the side of the road at night to check on a toddler on the street.
She called 911 shortly before her disappearance and following her call, a nationwide search was launched in an attempt to find her.
She then called her brother’s girlfriend to say she was coming over to check on the child, only to lose contact with the relative, even though the phone line remained open.
It took police officers just five minutes to arrive on the scene, during which time Russell seemingly disappeared, with her car engine still running and the toddler nowhere to be seen.
She claimed to have been kidnapped by an orange-haired man “who came out of the trees” and forced her into a car, from which she claimed to have been able to escape.
She said she was recaptured and taken to a house, where she was forced to undress and pose for photos.
She told investigators she was placed in a car but was able to escape and flee into the woods to return home.
After initially disappearing on July 13, Russell was found 49 hours later at 10.44pm on July 15, after returning to her family’s home and ending the frenzied two-day search for the student nurse.
