Influencer Brittany Renner sparks backlash after claiming she has ‘no idea’ how she’ll provide for her son amid money woes
Brittany Renner has been receiving a lot of criticism after she claimed in a recent social media post that she has “no idea how” to care for her 3-year-old son, PJ Jr.
The influencer, who has more than 4.6 million followers on Instagram, has been criticized for voicing concerns about caring for her son, whom she shares with Dallas Mavericks star PJ Washington.
On Saturday, the 32-year-old internet personality spoke openly about her financial struggles in an Instagram video in which she wore a khimar, a piece of cloth worn by Muslim women that covers the head, neck and shoulders.
“I’ve been going through a lot of changes on the inside. And as a result, my outside world has completely collapsed,” Renner told her followers. “I have no idea where I’m going to live or how I’m going to take care of my son.”
Although the mother of one openly expressed her concerns, she maintained that her faith in Allah helped her cope.

“Allah has moved mountains for me and I trust that this will be no different,” she said.
Renner then compared herself to Alice in Wonderland when she confessed that she felt just like Alice after eating the cookie that made her too big to fit in her house.
“I’ve outgrown where I’m at,” she said. “The facade is fading, alhamdulillah, and I’m at a point where I don’t want anything that doesn’t have my name on it. Take it away. It served no purpose here.”
Yet she continued to insist that she “doesn’t want a cent more than she ‘should have.'”
“I can do a lot with a little,” she concluded.
After she shared an emotional update about her “extremely uncertain” feelings about her future, social media users expressed their outrage.
“Slow down your lifestyle and live a little more,” someone advised.
Another laughed: “There are women who don’t get alimony, work two jobs and still don’t know how to pay the rent, while you make $5,000 a month and drive a Mercedes-Benz.”

“You’re crying about the wrong tax rate, girl. Bye,” wrote a third.
Last year, Renner confirmed that she was receiving $2,500 a month in child support during an appearance on the Tonight’s Conversation podcast, according to Yahoo! News.
Renner recently converted to Islam and was spotted wearing a headscarf in her most recent posts.
The influencer, who has previously dressed provocatively in her social media posts, said earlier this month that she trusted “signals” from the universe.
“I’m going to enjoy every moment of my walk,” she said.
Despite explaining that she was going through a difficult time, the mother of one maintained that her faith in Allah helped her cope.
“I’ve outgrown where I’m at,” she said. “The facade is fading, alhamdulillah, and I’m at a point where I don’t want anything that doesn’t have my name on it. Take it away. It served no purpose here.”
Still, Renner admitted she’s not sure her new look fits into her contractual obligations, since she’s paid to model clothes from stores marketed as “sexy,” such as Fashion Nova.
She also shared that she is considering getting Botox under her arms to prevent sweating, as she struggles with her modest appearance due to the hot weather.
Renner rose to prominence after her relationship with Washington and made headlines for a number of scandalous statements.
She and NBA star Washington, 25, started dating sometime in 2020 but split the following year, with the NBA player writing a vague tweet about someone who was “setting things up the whole time.”

The couple has one child with Renner, who has been linked to James Harden, Lil Uzi Vert and a slew of other celebrities in the past.
Renner told Akademiks that she and Washington met when she was 26 years old, when he was playing at the University of Kentucky.
Washington has earned more than $17 million in his professional career to date and signed a three-year, $48 million contract extension with the Hornets last summer.
Renner was also in the news last year when she was spotted having dinner with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal in Beverly Hills.

The pair were caught by paparazzi as they entered a restaurant, where they ate together, laughing and joking.
While the Internet was abuzz with reports of the leaked video and photos of the two, TMZ was told that there was “absolutely nothing romantic going on” between the two.
