Infamous wife killer Scott Peterson breaks his silence from prison for first time in over 20 years

A California man convicted of murdering his pregnant wife is speaking out for the first time in 20 years.

Scott Peterson, now 51, killed his wife, Laci Peterson, in 2002 when she was eight months pregnant with their son. He had been married to Laci for five years when she disappeared on December 24, 2002, after walking their dog.

Peterson said from jail that he remembers his wife’s “smile” the day she disappeared. He also said he regrets not testifying at his trial.

“If I have the opportunity to show people what the truth is, and if they are willing to accept it, then that is the best thing I can do right now. Because I did not kill my family,” the convicted murderer said.

Laci, 27, was eight months pregnant with their first child when she disappeared. Her remains and the fetus of her unborn son — whom the couple had named Conner — were found more than three months later in separate locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Since his arrest and conviction for double murder more than twenty years ago, Peterson has not been heard from again.

However, he broke his silence on the murder from California’s Mule Creek State Prison during a video call interview for a Peacock documentary.

Peterson discussed the details of the last hours before his wife “disappeared” and the things he “enjoyed” that day.

“I saw Laci smile when she did her hair on the morning of the 24th, and the way we shared a bowl of cereal because we were too lazy to eat two bowls,” he says in the documentary, Face to Face with Scott Peterson.

Peterson, who previously worked as a fertilizer salesman, is now serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

He still denies any involvement in Laci’s disappearance or the death of her and their unborn child.

Peterson agreed to do the documentary to appeal to the public and prove his innocence.

The convicted murderer wants to share his side of the story and the “so-called investigation,” as he calls it.

He alleges that agents and prosecutors ignored key leads and relied on circumstantial evidence to make their case during the 2004 trial.

I regret not testifying [at my trial]’, he says. ‘But if I get the chance to show people what the truth is, and if they’re willing to accept it, that would be the greatest thing I could accomplish right now – because I didn’t kill my family.’

Peterson also broke his silence about his extramarital affair in the documentary.

Their 2002 wedding involved a third person: a woman who played a key role in the investigation into the avid golfer and expectant father.

Amber Frey, now 49, was Scott’s mistress for weeks, unbeknownst to her, before he murdered his heavily pregnant wife, Laci. She cunningly maintained their relationship and helped police identify Peterson as a suspect in the chilling murder case.

Now, a large portion of their intimate phone conversations have been made public.

Frey, who was a single mother of a young daughter at the time, said she had just finished school in California when one of her friends told her about a “handsome boy” who wanted to meet “the one.” He introduced her to Peterson.

During an interview with Netflix about the new series ‘American Murder: Laci Peterson,’ Amber opened up about her blossoming new relationship with Scott: ‘We started on the phone.

‘I thought he was handsome, he had a really nice smile, he had a good head on his shoulders. He was interested in my life and my daughter, and he was kind to her.

‘We had a lot of laughs and good conversations.’

During their courtship, which she says began sometime in November 2002, Amber asked Scott if he had ever been married. He said no.

In the new trailer for the docuseries, the detective who investigated the case, Jon Buehler, suggested that Peterson committed the murders because he “didn’t want to pay child support, didn’t want to pay spousal support.” [support] and this is how he thought he was going to get out of it.’

Peterson is currently seeking a new trial for the deaths of his wife and unborn son. His case is being reexamined by the Los Angeles Innocence Project.

Laci’s disappearance was first reported by her husband, who initially claimed he was out golfing. When he returned to their Modesto, California home, he found it empty and their dog running around the backyard on a leash.

Peterson, however, told his neighbor a different story, claiming he was fishing 90 miles away on his recently purchased boat out of Berkeley Marina.

He reported Laci missing to the police and called his mother-in-law to tell her that his pregnant wife was nowhere to be found.
