An Indiana mom has been jailed after she was caught traveling through the city of Indianapolis with her two-month-old crying twins in a milk crate strapped to her bicycle.

Blossum Kirby, 36, will spend a year behind bars after being convicted of neglecting a dependent for her actions.

Multiple people called 911 when they saw Kirby traveling through Indianapolis in July 2022 with the babies in a milk crate strapped to the front of her bike.

Some say they almost saw the mother fall off the bike when the babies were in the plastic box during the scorching summer heat.

When police stopped her, Kirby told them she always transported her kids that way — because she didn’t have a car, court documents said.

The kids were simply wearing diapers in the mid-80s summer sun and the coffin was held in place by a bungee cord, photos showed.

The babies, a boy and a girl, were taken to Riley Hospital for Children and treated for sunburns and minor scrapes.

Brian Henderson, who witnessed the ordeal, said he thought the two children were dolls at first until he saw one of the twins’ arms move.

He shared a video at the time and was heard saying, “You can’t have those babies in there, ma’am.”

Suezanne Lynch had also seen Kirby transporting the children in the coffin, and told the story Fox 59She had told me that before I stopped her she had a baby in the front and a baby in the back.

“She couldn’t control the bike very well, so she put both babies in the one milk crate in the front. [She said] that was her way of transporting the babies when she left.’

The passerby added: “It was heartbreaking. All I can think about is that I know I wasn’t the only one who saw her. So many people drove past her and who knows how long they kept driving.’

On May 22, 2023, the mother was found guilty on both counts of child neglect by a Marion County jury.

She was sentenced to two years in prison, with one year suspended on both charges – to be served concurrently.
