Indiana metal mill worker declares ‘s*** happens’ after hitting co-worker on the head with a hammer at work, leaving him with a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage
A 27-year-old metalworker in Indianapolis has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly assaulting a co-worker with a hammer, then walking out and calmly telling another co-worker, “S*** happens.”
Austin Hahn was reported by his mother last week after the Aug. 20 attack on Bright Sheet Metal Company.
Hahn was said by other factory workers that until recently he was good friends with the man he attacked. It is not known why they fell out.
One employee told police, in court documents obtained by Law & Crimethat Hahn had been “best friends” with the other man until they got into a fight, but Hahn apologized to the victim and everything seemed fine.

However, Hahn’s roommate told police the two weren’t close because Hahn had been using “a lot” of marijuana lately, WXIN reported.
The victim, whose name has not been released, told police he was at his workplace – which he shared with Hahn – when he was suddenly hit in the back of the head and knocked unconscious.
He did not know who attacked him, but told police that their colleagues would have seen the attack.
Hahn is said to have hit the man six or seven times on the back of the head with a hammer, leaving him with multiple skull fractures, cerebral hemorrhages, a punctured jaw and missing teeth.
Hahn and his victim both worked at Bright Sheet Metal in Indianapolis

Hahn then reportedly calmly walked out of the building and threw the hammer used in the attack into the trash.
He paused to pat another colleague on the chest, WXIN reported, and tell him, “S*** happens.”
Hahn then got into his car and drove off.
He was arrested later that day and has been charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and wounding by means of a deadly weapon. The data has been checked by Law and crime show.
He is being held without bail and his next hearing is October 19.
