LOS ANGELES — The brown felt fedora worn by actor Harrison Ford in the second installment of the Indiana Jones films has sold at auction for $630,000, film and TV memorabilia company Propstore announced Friday.
According to the item’s online description, the hat, which was featured in the 1984 film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” is expected to fetch between $250,000 and $500,000.
The fedora comes from the personal collection of the late stuntman Dean Ferrandini, who also wore it when he replaced Ford as Jones, the handsome archaeologist who hates snakes.
Keeping the hat in place during filming was a “constant challenge,” the Propstore expert said in the online description, so pieces of foam were inserted to make it fit better.
It was designed by the Herbert Johnson Hat Company in London and is made of sable-coloured rabbit felt.
Other items sold include a white “biker scout” helmet worn by an Imperial Scout Trooper from the 1983 film “Return of the Jedi,” which sold for $315,000, and a ghost costume worn by stars in the 1996 film “Scream,” which sold for $270,900.
“Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” also starred Kate Capshaw as nightclub singer Willie Scott and Ke Huy Quan as Short Round.
