Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny trailer whips up some time-bending action
Dr. Henry Jones, Jr., associate professor of archeology, Marshall College, is leading his latest research in June Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fatewhich got another trailer on Friday at Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Celebration.
The new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate sends Harrison Ford’s Indy and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who plays Indy’s goddaughter Helena) on a mission to recover the titular dial and steal it back and forth from Mads Mikkelsen’s scheming Nazi villain. There’s a lot of talk about retirement, correcting mistakes, and finding a final win, all fitting pursuits for the final (supposedly) Indiana Jones movie.
The final trailer, released in December, set the stage The dial of fate, which will feature a CGI-aged Harrison Ford for certain scenes. Everyone is, of course, playing a big game of nostalgia for a franchise turning 42 this year, and it’s still not clear how, or even if, Disney plans to carry that over to new characters (Ford is, ahem, 80).
But Indiana Jones is one of those heroes that lives forever. He is known for recovering an amazing number of priceless cultural artifacts, including the Ark of the Covenantone of the the five Sankara stonesand the Cross of Coronado (all of which belong in a museum, Naturally). In The dial of fatewill he dust off his fedora one last time to ensure that Project Apollo reaches the moon without interference from contemporary Nazis.
Join Ford in the cast of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore and Mads Mikkelsen. James Mangold (Logan, Ford vs Ferrari) directs.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate hits theaters on June 30. The film will premiere at Cannes in May.
