Indiana Fever provide crucial Caitlin Clark update amid fears WNBA superstar could MISS playoffs

After Caitlin Clark received her sixth technical foul of the season on Friday, some Indiana Fever fans were concerned that their point guard might miss a playoff game.

A seventh technical foul will result in a one-game suspension for any WNBA player, but a team spokesperson confirmed that Clark’s number of technical fouls will not pose a problem for the playoffs.

A Fever spokesperson confirmed that the total number of technical fouls a player has received has been reset at the start of the play-offs.

The Fever have two games left in the regular season: on Sunday against the Dallas Wings and on Thursday the final game of the regular season against the Washington Mystics.

If Clark gets a technical foul against the Wings, she will miss the game against the Mystics. If she only gets a technical foul against the Mystics, she will go into the postseason without a suspension.

Next to the Phoenix Mercury players, Clark has the most technical fouls in the WNBA.

Three of Mercury’s stars, Natasha Cloud, Diana Taurasi and Kahleah Cooper, have equal or more players than Clark. Cloud is the only player in the league to be suspended for multiple technical fouls so far this season.

Clark received her sixth technical foul of the season during Indiana’s 78-74 loss to the Aces, when she hit the upright under the rim. The action cost her $600, the WNBA fine for a sixth such foul in a season.

With two games left in the season, the Fever are all but assured of sixth place in the WNBA playoffs.

If so, the Connecticut Sun will be the team’s opponent in the first round of the playoffs.

Clark and the Fever have gone 1-3 to the Sun this season, but they did win their most recent game.
