Indian cricket team players have complained about the quality of food provided during the Twenty20 World Cup – saying they are speaking out for the good of all countries.

The squad underwent training at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday ahead of their Super 12 clash against the Netherlands and were unimpressed by the cold sandwiches, fruit and falafel offered to them afterwards.

For the tournament, local providers are responsible for feeding the teams and support staff.

Some members of the team decided to order food online and will continue to do so unless the quality of the fare improves.

“The team has told ground authorities about the meal we received,” an unnamed source within the Indian team told AFP.

‘Are you happy if you get a sandwich after three hours of exercise? “I know all teams get the same, but they don’t speak out because most of them are not in a position to make their voices heard.

“We didn’t train today and hope we get something better in our next netting session and if not the players will order online as we did on Tuesday,” the source said.

India is a superpower in world cricket and the party has reportedly pushed for better offers in the next training session or they can take the issue to the sport’s governing bodies.

India is also home to a quarter of all malnourished people worldwide, according to the World Food Programme.

About 21 percent of the population lives on less than $1.90 (USD) a day – many of whom would no doubt be happy with a sandwich, falafel, and fruit to eat.

Kohli’s exploits with the bat took India to a thrilling final ball victory at the MCG in front of 90,000 fans earlier this week.

His undefeated 82 helped India from 4-31 to beat Pakistan’s 8-159 and ensured an unbelievable win.

‘I have no words for it, no idea how that happened. I kept believing in it and stayed there until the end. I am honestly just lost for words,” Kohli said after the game.
