Indian Ambassador to Nepal discusses mutual concerns with new Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava on Tuesday called on newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh and External Affairs Minister Dr Arzu Rana and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral interests and mutual concerns.
Srivastava met Singh, who is also the urban development minister, and Rana at their respective offices on the day they assumed office as part of the coalition government of the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist Leninist Party (CPN-UML) and the Nepali Congress, led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, which was sworn in on Monday.
During the meeting, Srivastava and Singh discussed matters relating to bilateral interests and mutual concerns, ministry sources said.
Ambassador Srivastava on the occasion extended his best wishes to Deputy Prime Minister Singh for a successful tenure and said that India is ready to strengthen mutual cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh and Ambassador Srivastava during the meeting discussed possible cooperation of India in tackling river pollution and solid waste management, Minister Maniram Gelal told reporters after the meeting.
The progress of various projects being implemented with Indian support was also discussed. Integrated customs check posts were also constructed on the border between the two countries, the official said.
Earlier in the day, Srivastava paid a courtesy call on the newly-appointed External Affairs Minister of the Himalayan nation, Dr Rana, and discussed bilateral issues and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Nepal borders five Indian states: Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, the age-old cultural and cultural ties between India and Nepal are exemplified by the strong bond between the people of both countries. The ministry claims that Nepal is a priority partner of India under the ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy.
