Indian airlines close to overtaking Emirates on Dubai route
The air route to Dubai is the busiest in India. And Indian airlines have collectively almost closed the gap in seat capacity between the two places with their government-owned rivals Emirates and low-cost flydubai, both of which dominate the route.
According to Cirium, Emirates and flydubai held more than half of the 2.3 million seat capacity and 36 percent of the 9,410 flights between April and July this year.
But Indian airlines such as Air India (including Air India, Air India Express and Vistara), IndiGo and SpiceJet have almost closed the gap.
