India on Friday successfully launched the Agni-4 ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
The successful test was conducted under the auspices of the Strategic Forces Command.
According to the Ministry of Defense, all operational and technical parameters were validated at launch.
“On 6 September 2024, a successful launch of an Agni-4, a medium range ballistic missile, was carried out from ITR at Chandipur, Odisha,” a statement from the Ministry of Defence said.
On April 4 this year, the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), along with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), successfully test-flighted the next-generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
According to officials, the test met all test objectives and was confirmed to be reliable. This was evident from data collected by a number of remote sensors placed at various locations, including two Downrange vessels placed at the endpoint.
The first night launch ahead of the induction of the new generation ballistic missile, Agni Prime, was test fired by DRDO from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha in June 2023.
