India and Zimbabwe are likely to sign a pact for cooperation on fast payment systems

India and Zimbabwe have agreed to explore the possibility of concluding a pact for regulatory cooperation in telemedicine, rough diamonds and rapid payment systems, an official statement said on Wednesday.

This was agreed upon at the third session of the India-Zimbabwe Joint Trade Committee (JTC) held here on May 13 and 14.

They also agreed to make joint efforts to strengthen bilateral trade.

“Both sides agreed to explore signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for regulatory cooperation in areas including digital transformation solutions, telemedicine, rough diamonds, rapid payment systems and traditional medicine,” the Commerce Ministry said .

They also identified several focus areas for enhancing bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, machinery, vehicles, electrical machinery, mineral fuels, iron and steel, agriculture and food processing, and renewable energy, it added.

The two countries agreed on closer cooperation between the investment promotion agencies and chambers of commerce of both sides.

Two-way trade between the countries amounted to $166.51 billion.
