An astonishing air swing on a Mankad try with the last ball of the match helped the Lucknow Super Giants to a stunning victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday.
Aussie Marcus Stoinis and West Indian Nicholas Pooran led a mighty Super Giants chase, with the side needing just five runs from the last over to reach the winning target of 213.
The Super Giants managed to tie the scores, but dramatically lost their eighth and ninth wickets in the process, resulting in the last ball of the match.
Harsha Patel then attempted to clear non-striker Ravi Bishnoi’s bail with the controversial Mankad and somehow completely missed the stumps as he ran past.
Patel spun quickly and tried to run Bishnoi out as he scrambled back to his crease, but a dead ball was called after the failed Mankad.

Patel was forced to bowl the last ball of the match to Avesh Khan, who missed the ball but managed a bye after wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik fumbled.
Khan threw down his helmet in celebration as the Super Giants stole the win by one point.
The cricketing world took to social media to express their shock at the heartbreaking final and the ’embarrassing’ Mankad try.
“Missing a Mankad from here taking one wicket and defending one run is one of the most embarrassing things that can happen to a cricketer,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Had Harshal Patel completed that Mankad it would have been another disgrace to RCB’s legacy,” said another.
“I can’t believe RCB tried to win the game like that. Where is the spirit of cricket? I hate the mankad,” commented a third.

Mankad knocked out Australian batsman Bill Brown by removing the bail on the non-striker’s end after Brown stepped well out of his fold during a tour match against an Australian XI.
Mankad, an orthodox left arm spin, then repeated the trick in the second test in Sydney.
The dismissal has since been a source of controversy, with opponents deeming it unsportsmanlike despite it being perfectly legal under the Marylebone Cricket Club Laws of Cricket.
