In season 2 of The Rings of Power, the elves are taking “a huge risk” with the title rings, one of the Prime Video show’s stars teases

The Rings of Power star Morfydd Clark has already hinted that Galadriel and her fellow elves are “taking a huge risk” with the newly created elven rings.

Speaking to Ny Breaking ahead of the Prime Video show’s return on August 29, Clark, who plays Galadriel, suggested that the first of the title rings, which were forged in 1999, The Rings of Power‘s season 1 finale will do more than just divide opinion among the immortal race’s key players. The magical artifacts – Nenya, Nilya and Vilya – may do more harm than good as the increasingly desperate elves search for a way to save themselves.

Why? Well, if Robert Aramayo’s Elrond is to be believed, the fact that Sauron – who spent much of Season 1 as the supposedly exiled King Halbrand of the Southlands – helped create them is reason enough not to use them. If the Great Deceiver has imbued them with some form of dark magic, there is no telling how the ring-bearers might be manipulated by Morgoth’s successor. But as the Eldar light in Lindon fades, Galadriel, Benjamin Walker’s High King Gil-galad, and Ben Daniels’ Cirdan the Shipwright believe it is a risk worth taking.

Are they rewarded for their courage? It would be remiss of me to spoil anything for anyone who hasn’t read it. The Lord of the Ring books or other prominent JRR Tolkien literature, such as the appendices and legendarium by the acclaimed author. However, Clark indicates that the elves will be venturing into uncharted waters when, not if, they decide to use them in The Rings of Power season 2.

“They’re taking a huge risk with these rings,” Clark told me. “It’s a kind of new science and magic and power, and they don’t know how it’s going to affect Middle-earth or the elves who wear them. There’s a certain bravery or recklessness in that decision, and we’ll find out which way it goes if they take that chance.”

Of course, these aren’t the only rings that will be forged in Amazon’s high fantasy prequel series. The Rings of PowerThe Celebrimbor actor got a crash course in ring making before Season 2 came out, so it’s inevitable that the other 17 rings – seven for the Dwarf Lords, nine for the Kings of Men, and the One Ring itself – will be forged this season. With The Rings of PowerThe second season of ‘s will rely more on The Lord of the Ring‘ According to tradition, they were all made before the eighth and final episode.

As of this writing, the Elven rings are the only ones created in real life and in one of Prime Video’s best fictional universes. Since they were created in Season 1, Episode 8, neither Clark nor Walker wore their rings last time around. Cirdan, meanwhile, wasn’t part of the cast last season, so Daniels didn’t get a chance to see his rings, let alone wear them.

As the images above show, however, the trio will be sliding their rings onto one of their middle fingers – an act that pays homage to The Company of the Ring film in the most precise way possible – this season. For Clark, a self-proclaimed Lord of the Rings fan, the first day of filming with Galadriel’s ring on was filled with some seriously nerdy moments.

“It was an amazing feeling,” Clark enthused. “It was also on a day where we had so many supporting actors playing beautiful elves around us, and it was amazing to be up there with Robert, Ben and so many others. It was exciting that we were finally hitting those important historical moments, so I was elated. I was beaming the whole day and every time the director said ‘we need you to film another take of you putting on the ring’ I was like ‘oh, okay, if you insist!'”
