Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that provisions are being made in the National Education Policy (NEP) to study sports as a formal subject and the same was discussed during the three-day National Sports Educator Conference.
“In the last nine and a half years, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Fit India and Khelo India have been introduced and yoga has been taken to an international level. Making one physically strong is important. Today I am very happy. Meanwhile, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday visited the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Bengaluru where he lauded the government's 'Khelo India' initiative and said it has been a “great success”.
During his visit to the SAI facility, Thakur also interacted with the trainees, coaches and other support staff.
“India has good talent but the only problem is that we need to have more competitions, both in terms of state and national competitions. For this, the Federation has to play an important role and the state governments also have to play a crucial role. provide facilities like Khelo India tournaments, we invest in youth games. Khelo India has become a great success, and it is Prime Minister Modi's idea. It created a platform for talented players to come and perform and that is how they move up the ladder,” said Anurag.
He added that SAI in Bengaluru has become a hub for athletes to train and rehabilitate. He added that SAI in Bengaluru has developed over the last few years.
