In-demand Fulham star Joao Palhinha is believed to suffer a dislocated shoulder in pre-season clash with Brentford… which may end any chance of a £60 million summer transfer

Joao Palhinha, Fulham’s star player, had to leave injured during his team’s friendly against Brentford on Sunday evening.

The Portuguese has been touted for a summer exit from Craven Cottage after an excellent debut season in the Premier League, with West Ham being told they will be charged £60 million by Fulham.

A preseason injury could throw those plans out of whack, however, as Palhinha walked out injured at Lincoln Financial Field with his arm in a makeshift sling just before halftime.

Palhinha fought for the ball near the center circle, but got off worse as he immediately hit the deck hurting his shoulder.

Team medics were quickly rushed onto the pitch as the 28-year-old was writhing in pain and it was clear he would no longer be able to continue in the friendly.

The combative Fulham midfielder grimaced in pain as he got back to his feet and was led away by physios who will launch an in-depth examination to determine the seriousness of his injury.

Palhinha’s left arm was placed in a makeshift sling with his forearm propped against his body by his shirt being rolled up.

He was escorted by a team of physios through the tunnel in Philadelphia and kept his arm in his support during the trip back to the locker room.

A serious injury could spell disaster for both Palhinha and Fulham, with a prolonged spell on the treatment table the only outcome if a dislocated shoulder is confirmed to be the problem.
