Important meeting of Janata Dal (United) National Executive in New Delhi

An important meeting of the Janata Dal (United) national executive began here on Friday amid rumors that party president Lalan Singh might resign to make way for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Kumar, Singh and other senior leaders of the party are attending the meeting.

It will be followed later in the day by the party's national council meeting, where the executive's decisions will be ratified.

Both Kumar and Singh have played down reports of major changes in the party, calling these meetings routine.
