IMD Weather Update 2024: Rainfall predicted in various states; details here

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast said that heavy rain and thundershower activity is expected in the northwestern Bay off North Andhra and South Odisha due to a low pressure area over the west-central Bay of Bengal.

Mild to heavy rainfall, thundershower and lightning are expected over isolated parts of South Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal as well as some parts of North Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. On September 26, light to moderate rainfall is expected over isolated parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Moreover, according to the official statement from the IMD, there is a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall over Kerala and Mahe (Puducherry) on September 25, 29 and 30; over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on September 25; and over Telangana and Karnataka on September 25.

IMD Weather Forecast 2024: West India

Over the next three days, Konkan & Goa, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are forecast to receive fairly widespread mild to moderate rainfall. The region is then expected to experience light to moderate rainfall over the next four days, with Saurashtra and Kutch receiving similar amounts of rain throughout the week.

Meanwhile, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast over Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa on September 25 and 26, and over Saurashtra and Kutch on September 26 and 27.

Weather Forecast 2024: Central India

Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh over the next three days, with scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall expected over the next four days. A similar amount of rain is expected in Madhya Pradesh during the week.

Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh on September 25. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh till September 27, and in Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh from September 25 to 26.

IMD Weather Forecast 2024: East and Northeast India

Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is forecast for Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next seven days. Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are expected to see isolated spells of heavy rainfall on September 25 and 26 respectively.

Arunachal Pradesh is forecast to experience isolated spells of heavy rainfall throughout the week, along with Assam and Meghalaya from September 24 to 29, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha from September 24 to 26, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Tripura from September 25 to 28 and Bihar from September 25 to 27.

Weather Forecast 2024: Northwest India

Except for eastern Uttar Pradesh, where isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is forecast for the next two days, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected for the next five days of the week. Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over northwestern India.

Heavy rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh on September 28. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh from September 27 to 29, Himachal Pradesh on September 26, Uttarakhand on September 26 and 27 and western Uttar Pradesh on September 28.
