I’m going to be long-distance with my boyfriend so I made him sign a contract that means I can SUE him if he cheats on me… trolls say I’m psychotic but I think it’s genius

A long-distance couple has sparked a heated debate after revealing that they had a contract in place that allows either of them to sue the other party if one of them cheats or doesn’t return their calls.

Devon Motley and her boyfriend Geren Gathright took to TikTok to share the document — which they both signed and which outlined the rules of their relationship before splitting.

The Texas-based couple — who did not reveal how far apart they would be or where they were headed — said they wrote the document together so they could “file a lawsuit” if “something goes wrong.”

In a viral video, which has more than 1.4 million views to date, Devon boasted of the contract stating that cheating, defamation, neglect and failure to maintain “continuous daily contact” were all violations.

The clip begins with the contract stating that neither party may cheat on the other.

It also notes that neither Devon nor Geren can end the relationship before September 2024.

According to the document, each party must share location with the other 24/7, answer any calls from the other, and maintain daily contact.

The contract stated: ‘Both parties are obligated to do the following: All problems with the opposing party must be brought to the attention of the affected party.

“Arguments must result in a resolution, an apology, and a closing act of affection (for long distances, some gift of some kind is required to be ordered from each party).

‘Location must always be enabled. Every seen call must be answered. We have to call at least once a day. Stay in constant contact throughout the day. Always provide extra reassurance.’

Devon and Geren also mentioned several things that would be considered breach of contract.

Violation 16: Cheating, including but not limited to: sleeping with someone of the opposite sex, having sexual contact with someone of the opposite sex, texting or calling the opposite sex, or sexual innuendos with malicious intent.

‘Violation 17: Defamation against any of the parties included in this contract; complaining about your relationship, speaking badly about your partner, etc.

Violation 18: Neglect of the emotional or physical state of the participating party. Therefore, this violation would constitute a lack of reassurance,” the document said.

Since the document is not notarized, it is not legally binding, so if Devon or Geren cheat, neither of them can sue.
