‘I’m surprised we bonded’: I’m a Celeb’s Babatúndé Aléshé discusses his unexpected friendship with Matt Hancock and reveals he lost a stone and a half in the jungle
I’m A Celebrity’s Babatúndé Aléshé has admitted his ‘surprise’ about his friendship with fellow campmate Matt Hancock.
The comedian, 34, who was the fifth celebrity to leave the jungle on Wednesday, revealed the pair were “connected through fatherhood.”
Speaking live from Australia on This Morning on Friday, he went on to say that the camp’s grueling diet of rice and beans led to him losing 1.5 stone.
Bonding: I’m A Celeb’s Babatunde Aleshe, 34, admitted his ‘surprise’ about bonding with fellow campmate Matt Hancock when he appeared on Friday’s This Morning
Describing his friendship with Matt, he admitted, “That surprised me.
“The way we bonded was absolutely surprising…we bonded over fatherhood and that’s what we talked about.”
Babatunde shares young son Judah with his wife Leonie, while MP Matt shares three teenage children with his estranged wife Martha Hoyer Millar – they separated after his affair with Gina Coladangelo.
The Celebrity Gogglebox star then spoke about his weight loss and the realities of life in camp.
Unexpected friendship: ‘That surprised me. The way we [him and Matt] bonded was absolutely surprising… we bonded over fatherhood and that’s what we talked about’
He said, “I absolutely loved it. When I think about it, it was definitely something I had to do, and I love it, it was great… but it’s so different from watching it on TV!
‘You only see a small part of camp life, so twenty four hours in the jungle – we thought we could ask the crew for some biscuits or sandwiches or something – but when they say rice and beans they really mean it!’.
On who he would like to win, Baba said, “I said Owen at first, but I would be so happy if Jill got it. They’re my two best friends in that place.’
The interview came ahead of Friday night’s show as Matt and Mike Tindall team up to take on the latest grueling Bushtucker Trial.
The duo are submerged in fish guts and covered in spiders as they team up in the Fallen Stars challenge to win meals for the camp.
In a preview of the episode, the rugby player, 44, sits on a platform and is dropped into a filthy tank when he answers a question incorrectly.

And every wrong answer adds extra time that 44-year-old politician Matt has to spend in a cage with all kinds of creepy critters.
In the clip, Mike struggles as hosts Ant & Dec ask “What is the collective noun for a group of spiders?”.
Mike rattles his brains only for Dec to joke, “I need an answer Mike.”
“Yes, I understand,” the former England legend snaps back.
Guessing wrong, Mike falls into the horrible liquid as Matt giggles, “Nicely done.”
The result is the Tory MP scrambling on his hands and knees into the dark cage of spiders.
