An auto mechanic has revealed that a strange knocking sound coming from your car could be much more serious than you may think.
Simon Cheatle, mechanic at Walsall Wood Tire and Service, said the noise could endanger your life.
While drivers may not bother trying to fix the annoying knocking sound, he said, “It’s always worth getting it checked out.”
He shared his company TikTok @walsallwood_tyre and said the noise could be caused by the lower joint in the wheel and could damage other parts in your car.

The lower ball joint connects the control arm to the steering knuckles. If they fail, they can lead to unsafe steering and handling and even loss of control, according to automotive experts at thedrive.com.
Simon demonstrates on a Renault: “So often people come in to us and say, ‘I’ve got a slight knocking noise, I don’t think it’s anything serious, but can you take a look at it?
“It’s very small, and it’s not there all the time, so that you would think ah, something small, something small.
“Unfortunately it’s the bottom ball joint and if you look at how much play there is in that wheel. Look, it literally depends now.
“If I can get there in this bottom ball, as I activate, it actually jumps around and wears out the tire more. That will cause the steering to sit all over the road and increase wear and tear on all the other components associated with it.”

Simon has urged drivers to take their cars to the nearest garage as soon as they hear knocking noises
According to experts at thedrive.com, you shouldn’t be driving with a faulty ball joint, and ignoring it can be very expensive.
“Continuing could cause damage to other vehicle components and if the connection fails completely you could lose control of the vehicle, which could lead to an accident and injury,” they said.
For this reason, Simon has urged drivers to take their cars to the nearest garage as soon as they notice strange noises.
