Few travel as often as the flight crew, and staying in hotels is just part of that.
But a flight attendant has now revealed one routine she always does when she first enters her hotel room – and that is checking for spy cameras.
Esther Sturrus, 22, who has been a flight attendant since 2019, took to TikTok to explain how she scans her room for curious digital eyes.
And it may sound a bit over the top, but social media users have been praising her for sharing the “awesome tip.”
In the video, which has already gone viral with more than 3.7 million views and 480,000 likes, Mrs. Sturrus explains exactly what she’s doing.

Because traveling is an important part of her job, Esther often has to stay overnight in hotels all over the world. But to ensure her safety, there is one thing she always does: check for hidden cameras
The flight attendant, who has worked for both TUI and KLM, explained that as part of her job she often has to constantly check into hotels for the night.
And to make sure she’s safe, Esther checks her room for hidden cameras before tucking herself in for the night.
She captioned her video: “The first thing I do now when I enter my hotel room: check for hidden cameras.”
In the video, she starts by checking the mirrors in her bathroom. She does this by pressing on the glass to see if there is anything to see, or if there is a band in the glass.
Next, Mrs. Sturrus, who is from the Netherlands, checks the shower and fire alarm edges as she scans past them with her phone flashlight.
And finally, she goes into her room and does a thorough search – including looking behind and around the curtains, in the drawers, and the TV.
Thousands of social media users commented on the video, with many also posting their tips and hacks.
One person said, “My mom has a camera detection device for when we stay in a hotel or airb&b.”
