An American man visiting Britain admitted he thought he wouldn’t find “good food” in Britain but was pleasantly surprised.
Kalani Smith, passing by @kalanighosthunter on TikTok, is an influencer and YouTuber who creates content about paranormal activities – he has almost three million followers on the social media app.
Since arriving in Britain, however, he has also captured the attention of millions of people by filming himself trying a variety of British cuisines – from fish and chips in St Andrews to a Sunday roast in London.
The American recently hit back at those who criticized British food in the comments of his videos, insisting the food here is ‘delicious’ – despite most US people assuming it is bad.
His video has already been viewed by more than 118,000 people and has generated more than 600 comments.
An American man visiting Britain has admitted he didn’t think he would find ‘good food’ in Britain but is pleasantly surprised
Kalani told his followers: ‘Okay, we need to talk about this sentiment about British food here.
‘If you don’t know me, I’m American and I came to Britain for the first time in January this year.
“Now I’m going to be completely honest with you. I didn’t think I’d come to Britain to find good food, I really didn’t.
“The most important thing is that I kept an open mind and wanted to try as much as I could before coming to a conclusion.”
He insisted: ‘Now I’m currently on my second tour here in the UK and what I can tell you is that they have incredibly good food.
‘Is everything I’ve had a 10/10? Absolutely not, but that’s not even the case in America.
‘I think the rhetoric has been passed down from generation to generation and we all assume that the food in Britain is bad because that’s what we’ve been told.
“But as an experienced, fat American, I can tell you they have delicious stuff.”

As for the details, the American revealed: ‘Now I want to agree with you: they have a lot of different meats, a lot of different pies, a lot of different meat pies, but there’s so much more to the food culture here than just plain meat pies.
‘And one more thing: beans on toast are delicious. You just have to have the right beans, the right toast, and I like to throw cheese on it.”
He admitted: ‘I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve actually fallen in love with Britain and its people.
“I will say that it takes a while for them to adjust to you, but once they do, they are just as nice as the people in the southern US.
‘So the next time you want to say that all food in Britain is bad, just watch a video because I’ve had orgasmic food.’
Both Brits and Americans flooded the comments with their own opinions on British foods.
One fan wrote: ‘There’s no British sausage to beat. Lincolnshire sausages are definitely goat cheese (sic) and we have some of the best cheeses in the world.”
A second revealed: ‘I watched an American YouTubers vlog and she said she couldn’t find good food in the UK because it was all ‘cold meat’. I’m still so confused about that.’

Meanwhile, a third commented: ‘The UK has an incredibly complex, diverse and intriguing palette.’
Someone else insisted: ‘My wife was from Memphis and agrees British food is better! Moreover, the meat has taste.’
A fifth added: ‘I travel all over Europe on business. For example, I was in Barcelona two weeks ago. I can honestly say that if you go to a restaurant of equivalent quality in the UK and elsewhere, it will be the same quality.”
Others chimed in with: ‘You are now an honorary Briton’ and ‘You can now officially have your Honorary Briton Badge’.
Another Brit explained: ‘I think the rep came from American soldiers who were stationed here in the Second World War and returned to the US, but Britain had already been at war for years when the US got involved and rationed. The food then was probably bland because there was no spice or variety in it.’
Other foodie recommendation: ‘Place a fried egg on your beans on toast!’ and ‘Scotland has great beef, seafood and of course whisky.’
Someone else added: ‘Glad you’re enjoying Britain. It’s always great to hear about eateries we may not have heard of that you try on our behalf. Keep it up.’
It comes just after an American woman racked up views online as she confessed she is obsessed with British culture.

A TikTok that she posted under handle @fa2chainzwhich reveals her fascination has already been seen by more than 1.2 million people.
The American captioned the clip: ‘I’m English babes, I don’t care. I love those beans on toast, people!’
