I’m a travel expert, this is why you should always choose the ‘worst seat’ on a plane

Most travelers opt for a window seat to enjoy the view, or an aisle seat, where you have more room to stretch your legs.

Sydney, Australia-based travel journalist John Burfitt has revealed why you should always choose the worst seat on the plane.

He claimed that the window seat, all the way in the back of the plane, near the toilets, was actually the best seat on the entire plane.

Although the job is close to the toilet and you will inevitably be the last to get off the plane, this job apparently does have its advantages.

Writing for escape.com.au he said, ‘There’s no way anyone’s going to kick the back of your seat. You’re tucked in, so you’re never going to get hit by a flight attendant using a trolley, you’re not going to get bumped by passing passengers or have them grab your seat as they pass. And if you want to sleep, you can lean against the wall in the corner and fall asleep.’

The travel expert said he had previously experienced a number of flights where someone kicked the back of their seat throughout the flight while trying to get “comfortable.”

A few months later it happened again and he swore he would never sit across from anyone again.

When he realized that there was a wall behind the last seat on the plane, he decided that this would be his preference from now on.

He added: ‘I have happily paid extra to book a seat in the corner of the back row of the cabin and on occasion have even changed my travel dates to secure that seat.’

John went on to say that people often think the back seat can’t be folded back because there’s a wall behind it, but he claims it can.

He also said that many people worry about hearing the toilet flush, but he came up with a solution: “Have you ever heard of noise-canceling earbuds and headphones?”

To those concerned about feeling “locked in,” John said, “I like being out of the hustle and bustle, so that’s fine with me.”

The seating position may not be for everyone, but John said he’s happy with it because he doesn’t want the location to be “too popular.”

This comes after another travel expert revealed some of her favourite airplane tricks for passengers on a long flight.

Lindsay Silberman, who splits her time between New York and Florida, took to TikTok to share her top tips for people on the go.

She advised keeping a “bag within a bag” for essentials and promoting compression socks, electrolyte sachets, face and lip masks, and noise-canceling headphones.

The content creator, who has visited 63 countries, was quickly inundated with praise from fellow social media users.

In the clip, which has been viewed more than 5.2 million times to date, Lindsay quickly launched into her list of top tips.

She demonstrated it with her own luggage and began, “I like to call this the bag within the bag.

‘I pack a gym bag as my personal item and keep a small bag in there with everything I need so I don’t have to dig around in my bag every time I need something.’

She then continued, “If you’re on a long flight and you’re not wearing compression socks, you’re doing it wrong. Personally, I’m just not into the ankle aesthetic, which is why I like compression socks.”

The avid traveler then shared another trick by pouring electrolyte powder into her water bottle.

But Lindsay didn’t stop there with her insights, as she also reached for her face and lip masks.

The content creator says she continues her beauty routine, which includes a lip mask, in economy class, adding that she doesn’t care what other passengers think.
