I’m a personal trainer – here’s how to get doll-like feet like Barbie star Margot Robbie
- Fans went wild over Margot Robbie’s perfectly balanced feet in the new Barbie trailer
- Personal trainers say that going barefoot and practicing toe lifts can help tighten the feet
Barbie, the highly anticipated summer blockbuster, is already making people swoon… over Margot Robbie’s doll-like feet.
In the now-iconic scene, revealed in the movie’s trailer, the blonde star takes off her heels, but when she steps out, her feet are still arched, leaving her toes pointed as if she’s wearing an invisible pair of heels.
The image sent Barbie fans wild on social media with many comments about how “beautiful” the actress’s feet are.
Even Barbie director Greta Gerwig is a fan, revealing that she refused to use CGI on 33-year-old Margot because she had the “prettiest feet.”
Filmmaker Greta Gerwig, 39, explained that she decided not to use computer-generated imagery because actress Margot Robbie, 33, already has “the most beautiful feet”
But aside from getting a pedicure, you might be wondering how to get perfectly toned feet like Margot herself.
Matt Roberts, personal trainer to the likes of Adele and Naomi Campbell, has revealed the perfect workout that will make your feet stronger and toned.
One of the most surprising tips is that wearing shoes can make your feet “lazy,” according to Roberts.
He instead suggests walking around your house barefoot as much as possible.
“We need to stimulate the muscles in the arch of the foot to make sure they don’t weaken and collapse, as wearing shoes provides easy support and assistance,” he said.
Another tip Mr. Roberts has for perfectly shaped feet is regular arch training.
To do this, he says you need to sit barefoot, grab a towel and put it on the floor.
Next, try to roll up the towel under your foot by pulling your toes toward you, keeping your toes pointing straight.
Mr Roberts said: ‘Imagine if you had your hands flat on a surface and squeezed your hands inward by pulling your palms together, it’s the same thing but using the soles of your feet.
“Do reps until you feel tiredness coming on, then rest and stretch your feet before repeating a few sets.”
The celebrity personal trainer also suggests simply massaging the arches.
You can do this manually or by using a tennis ball to stand up and perform circular motions around the arch of your foot.
Mr Roberts said: ‘These approaches of exercising and mobilizing the feet while helping to move some fluid give the best chance of making some changes.’
Practicing picking up objects with your toes and exercising your calves can also help strengthen your feet, according to Gloucestershire-based personal trainer Lee Mitchell.
Marble pick-up exercises can improve agility and toe strength; place marbles or small objects on the floor and use your toes to pick them up and place them in a container,” he said.
“Calf raises can also contribute to toned feet by activating the muscles in both your calves and feet.”
“This one requires you to stand with your feet hip-width apart, stand on your toes, hold for a second, then lower.”

He also suggests practicing toe lifts and scrunches.
To do this move, sit or stand and lift your toes while keeping your heels planted, and gradually increase the number of reps over time.
Follow this up by trying to spread your toes as far apart as possible and relax them before repeating.
But the personal trainer says it’s important to remember that everyone is unique and results vary depending on your fitness level.
