‘NAD+ plays a very important role in cellular energy production and the activation of proteins and pathways that extend lifespan and help repair cells and tissues, including DNA,’ he told MailOnline.

According to Dr. Enayat, the supplement helps the mitochondria, the powerhouse of cells that are vital for energy production and various bodily processes. This, in turn, can help your body produce more cellular energy and repair DNA better, making your cells “healthier.”

He chooses to have the supplement injected under his skin, but it is also available in pill form and as an infusion, which he sells in his clinic for £250 per session.

After testing hundreds of patients in his clinic and finding that about 80 percent of them had low magnesium levels, he now added it to his daily dose of vitamins.

According to Dr. Enayat, it is good for your bones and your cognitive brain.

He adds that low magnesium levels can be associated with “poor sleep, nervousness, muscle cramps and twitching.”

“I take collagen protein powder, not every day, but mainly on the days I know I’m going to get less protein,” he said.

“I alternate between different types of proteins,” he added.

‘I’ll be doing beef collagen and collagen peptide proteins for a while and then some split pea protein powder, which is really good for the digestive system.

‘If I want to build muscle mass, I take a whey-based protein diet.’

He explains that he does this for a period of three months to prevent an ‘inflammatory response’ from developing.

“If you get too much exposure to things, you eventually become sensitive to them. Sensitivity causes an inflammatory response, which takes away your energy and makes you feel less than optimal,” he said.

Dr. Enayat stresses that while these supplements are ideal for him, people should first have a blood test to determine what nutrients their body needs before trying different supplements.
