I’m a hair stylist – here’s how to add volume to flat hair in just minutes

A hairstylist shared a simple hack that can add volume to flat hair in just minutes.

Matt Newman, from New York, shared a video about TikTok on how to achieve a ‘dry shampoo blowout refresh’ that will bring your flat hair back to life in minutes.

Matt says the first step is to grab a claw clip and use the prongs to push back your hair from the forehead and crown.

Then he tells you to “pinch” the hair “all the way up,” slowly pulling the hair clip over his head.

“Dry shampoo just above the scalp,” he says, patting the shampoo into the roots with his finger.

Next, Matt grabs a hairdryer and blow-dryes the area using the cold setting of a hairdryer.

“Untie it and zhuzh it out,” Matt says, running his hands through his hair and blowing it out, mixing the dry shampoo into his scalp.

And he seemed quite impressed with the results, as he was stunned at how voluminous his hair looked.

The hair stylist concluded the video by saying, “That’s long!”

He captioned the video, “Dry shampoo is so good for bringing back hair volume to a blow dryer that has gone flat at the roots.

“The claw clip helps direct the product to the specific part of our strands we want to lift.”

Matt has worked in the New York hair industry for over 10 years and has even worked behind the scenes on editorial shoots and fashion shows.

The stylist, who has a thick mane that reaches to his shoulders, says he started growing his hair as a teenager.
