I’m a flight attendant… here is my biggest bug bear committed by travellers on long haul flights

A flight attendant has revealed the most annoying thing travelers do when embarking on a long-haul flight.

Skye Taylor, 49, from Southampton, worked as a flight attendant for 17 years, starting at low-cost airlines before eventually working her way up the career ladder and landing a job at Virgin Atlantic.

But after hanging up her wings just over a year ago, Ms. Taylor is sharing secrets from her previous work.

Now she’s shared which flyer behavior is her biggest bug bear and most common on long-haul flights – only it’s a lot healthier than you think.

She said she feels bad during a long flight when passengers avoid awkwardly talking to cabin crew out of social anxiety or fear of awkwardness.

Skye said, “If you have a long, long flight, don’t shut up. I’d rather have someone come up to me and say, “I’m cold, can you get me an extra blanket or can you turn up the air conditioning” than sit there and be cold for the entire flight. That’s my biggest bug bear.

‘I will also always ask people: ‘Are you warm enough?’, you know, it’s just the polite thing to do.

“You know what it’s like on the train, I’m terrible on the train, they freeze us to death, and I think it’s the same when you take a long flight.

‘People are not used to that in their bodies, we never really get used to it, but we are better equipped to deal with it.

“And I just think, no, please not. I couldn’t imagine anyone sitting there that cold for ten hours.’

She added that, in her experience, temperatures on board the plane can vary

Sky explained: ‘Certain places on the plane will also be colder than others. So if you lie flat by the door, you will be cold for the entire flight. Okay. Yes, you may have more legroom, but you’ll be colder.

‘So definitely always double down there too.’

It comes after Skye shared that a simple mistake on a plane could get you banned from flying for life.

Skye previously told MailOnline: ‘I was watching a TikTok the other day and I was absolutely shocked.

‘An influencer stepped over the markings [on the runway]the safety zone, and everyone was like ‘oh wow, that’s incredible’.

“But she was sitting right next to the bike, it was ridiculous.”

However, the former flight attendant was left even more baffled by another influencer.

She said: ‘I’ve seen a lot of other things that make me go, ‘Oh my God!’

‘In another video it was like an influencer was writing on the mirror or something in the bathroom – and I thought this could be a huge safety risk.

“Because messages are known to have been left, you know [dangerous people] and I think people often don’t want to say it because I’m old, but it’s a younger generation thing.

“I think sense goes out the window.

She hung up her flying boots just over a year ago and is now speaking out about the behavior of other cabin crew influencers who left her ‘horrified’

‘Ultimately it’s about safety. Something could happen to you or you could endanger that plane, and I’ve seen it many times.”

Skye believes that some influencers have become bolder and more daring just to get others to watch their videos without thinking about the dire consequences.

“Doing that to get opinions, that’s ridiculous,” she continued.

‘It’s insane, and on top of that you’ll probably get a lifetime ban.
