I’m a flight attendant and that’s why I always avoid coffee makers in hotels
- Flight attendant revealed why travelers should avoid using hotel coffee makers
- Meanwhile, another TikToker has claimed that they are unsanitary
A flight attendant has revealed exactly why travelers should avoid using hotel coffee makers — and it’s pretty disgusting.
Revealing exactly why you shouldn’t make yourself a morning brew, a flight attendant has shocked the internet.
Tara Bee, a hotel housekeeper, who goes by @_sourqueen, claims that hotel coffee makers are very unhygienic and should be avoided at all costs.
Meanwhile, another New York flight attendant claims she’s heard that the coffee makers in hotels are used to wash underwear, reports Enjoy your meal.
However, other users wonder if there is any truth behind these claims – or if it is a myth.

The unidentified flight wrote on its website: “I contemplate the eternal question: should I make coffee in the hotel room or not.
“This is something most flight attendants have strong feelings about, and many senior mamas like to tell horror stories about things like coffee pots in the room being used to rinse out tights. (This could be an urban legend; I can’t imagine anyone actually DOING it.)’
However, people have become skeptical of her claims and have started asking the internet to clarify if there is any truth to this.
One person thought the same thing Quora and asked, “Do flight attendants still steam their underwear in coffee pots in hotel rooms to clean them or is this just a myth?”
And the post was full of many people denying the claims, with some saying they’ve never seen anyone do it, while others saying they’re certain someone “did it at some point.”
One person replied, “I’ve never met anyone who did that.”
Another person was more blunt, saying, “I’m sure at least one freak has done it at some point, but no, that’s not normal practice.”
However, another user claimed they have been flying for 10 years and said they had never heard of this practice.
They explained, “It’s much easier to pack clean underwear or, in case you run out, just wash it in the bathroom sink and let it dry over a heater or near a window.”
And another said, “So you think flight attendants only take one pair of underpants on a trip and wash them every night?” That in itself is hilarious. If for some reason they want to wash a piece of clothing, they lather it in the sink, not the coffee maker.
“Myth, of course, and one I’d never heard of until I read your question.”
Meanwhile, a hotel housekeeper took to TikTok to share her tips for staying in a hotel room.
Ms Bee warned and advised travelers to stop making a cup of coffee in their hotel room, saying, “The first thing I would never use in a hotel room is the coffee pot or any of the glasses.
“Usually the housekeeper just rinses these things out in the bathroom sink and dries them with the same cloth they use to clean the rest of their room.”
