I’m a flight attendant and here are five things I’d NEVER do as a passenger
You can never be well prepared for a flight.
Even those who download and pack their boarding passes weeks in advance can still face a host of issues on the day of their trip.
Whether it’s a brisk half-hour flight or a grueling 13-hour flight, a flight attendant has shared her dos and don’ts for every trip.
CiCi in the Sky, a self-proclaimed “air ally” and “travel alchemist” has shared advice with her 367,100 TikTok followers.
A flight attendant and self-proclaimed “air ally” has shared the five things she would never do while traveling
The most important thing to consider is which day you travel. According to the flight attendant, you should never fly on the same day for an important event
She begins by urging her followers to never fly on the day of an important event, whether that be a wedding, cruise, birth, or graduation.
She explained, “I can’t tell you how many people on my flights have missed important appointments because of delays, and it’s just not worth it. Always fly the day before.’
She turns her attention to the flight and tells her fellow travelers never to put anything in the seat pockets. She claims the bags are “dirty” because people “put all kinds of things in them.”
Similarly, she warns followers not to throw their coats or loose items in the overhead bin.
While it’s fine to put your carry-on in there, she claimed that people put all sorts of stuff in there and they get extremely dirty.
She explained: ‘I mean, I’ve never seen them cleaned and I’ve seen people’s stuff spill out of their bags and get all over their coats, clothes or whatever, so just don’t do it.’
When it comes to her role as a flight attendant, CiCi seemed very protective, claiming that she would never argue with another flight attendant.
In solidarity with staff, she said: “Flight attendants have been through a lot over the past four or five years with escalated incidents happens in the air. You just never know which flight attendant you’re dealing with.’
Instead, CiCi advised using the “many tools” at your disposal. You can use everything from surveys, company chatbots and email to Twitter to document your dissatisfaction.
She said these methods are monitored and they should try those instead of arguing.
Finally, the flight attendant explained that she would never depend on the cabin crew to bring her snacks or water and that she always brings her own snacks or water.
The cabin crew member urged her TikTok followers to never throw loose items in the overhead bin, claiming they are filthy and never cleaned.
She said that rough air and turbulence sometimes prevent the flight crew from serving you and that you should always buy a bottle of water before boarding.
The viral video has racked up an impressive 72,000 views and thousands of likes.
Hundreds of followers flocked to the comment section to share their own tips and opinions.
One flight attendant commented, “Everything you said is perfect!! I’m an FA too!!!’
While some thought the advice was obvious, one commented, “Who would fly on the day of an event??? I’d give it at least three days.’
One person joked, “Now I make sure to fly in on the day of events I don’t really want to attend.”
Another traveler said, ‘I agree with all these things! Interestingly though, I never thought about the jacket in the bins. Now I’m devastated, and I’ll never do it again!’
It comes after a week of chaos in Britain following a ‘massive breakdown’ of the national air traffic control system, which caused delays for tens of thousands of holidaymakers on one of the busiest travel days of the year.
The chaos continued well into the week, when passengers were warned they would have to wait ten days for a flight home – some paying thousands of pounds for accommodation, while others opted to sleep on the airport floor.
