A doctor has revealed what the average size of a penis is – and it's a lot smaller than some might think.

Dr. Jen Caudle, a doctor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has become a viral social media sensation in recent months for sharing her health knowledge and tips on TikTok.

In August, she posted a video discussing the average length of male genitalia, while trying to dispel some of the expectations men face about how big their packages are.

The clip, which has since been viewed more than 1.4 million times, has recently resurfaced – and left many people on the internet baffled.

According to Jen, the “average size of a flaccid penis is 3.61 inches,” while “the average size of an erect penis is 5.17 inches.”

In her TikTok, the GP explained that it was 'important to talk about' the subject to remove some of the 'societal pressure' that both men and women feel to look 'a certain way' .

'As a GP I talk about many things. It's important to talk about penises, vaginas and all kinds of things, so I want to convey some knowledge about what the actual average size of penises is,” she explained.

'One reason is that I think most people think the average penis size is much longer and larger than it actually is.

'Secondly, there is a lot of societal pressure to be a certain way, this applies to both men and women, and I'm not a fan of it.

“So I want to tell you some facts that will hopefully help set the record straight about what is real [the average size].

“The bigger message here is to know that you are okay just the way you are, that's the main message I'm trying to give with this video.

'You are doing well, and with the social pressure we put on ourselves [thanks to the] Wanting the internet or television to be bigger and better is wrong. What matters is you.”

She also added that penis size “doesn't necessarily” affect the “pleasure” during intercourse.

“Know that you are enough and understand that the size of a penis does not necessarily determine pleasure between partners,” she concluded.

Many people took to the comments section of the video to share their thoughts, with some men joking about their height and others thanking her for the information.

“Oh, we're already halfway there,” one man joked. Another joked: 'Phew, 17.5cm… I'm huge.'

“That means I'm wrapping the baby. I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth,” someone else added. “I'm now running for president.”

“I've been waiting all my life to say this: Yes, I'm above average! Barely but above that. You made my day,” read a fourth comment.

In February, a study was released showing that the average penis size had grown by a quarter in the past thirty years.

Researchers at Stanford University found that height increased by 25 percent between 1992 and 2021.

While it may seem like every man's wish, the team that conducted the study admitted that they were concerned that the increase could be due to exposure to chemicals, a sedentary lifestyle and junk food.

Dr. Michael Eisenberg, professor of urology at Stanford Medicine, said: 'Any overall change in development is concerning, because our reproductive system is one of the most important parts of human biology.

'If we see a change this quickly, it means something powerful is happening to our bodies.

'We must try to confirm these findings and if they are confirmed, we must determine the cause of these changes.'
