1. Avoid tight haircuts

While it may be tempting to put hair back in a ponytail or bun, Dr. Adel actually said doing so can be damaging to hair.

Dr. Adel said, “Stop wearing your hair in tight hairstyles so much.

‘Tight ponytails, tight buns, tight braids, they have to go.

“Repeated tension and pulling on the hair follicles can lead to hair loss, known as traction alopecia, which can be irreversible.”

2. How to properly apply dry shampoo

Meanwhile, she also revealed how improper application of dry shampoo can also damage hair.

Dr. Adel said, ‘I wish I had known this sooner, this is the right way to use your dry shampoo.

“If you’re trying to refresh your hair with dry shampoo between washes, it’s important to let it sit for a few seconds.

“It gives the dry shampoo time to absorb all the excess oil. It changes the game. You will find that your dry shampoo works so much better.”

3. SPF on your scalp

Dr. Adel also recommended applying sunscreen to the top of the hard drive to prevent damage – pointing out that this is an area that is often forgotten

Dr. Adel also advised applying sunscreen to the top of the hard skin to avoid damaging it.

She said, “Remember, your scalp is like your skin, you need to protect it.

You wouldn’t believe how much sun damage and skin cancer I’ve seen along the hair part.

So make sure you protect it and apply some SPF. I like to use SPF spray only for my hair parting.’

4. Never rub your wet hair with a towel

While many may quickly rub their wet hair with a towel to get it dry as quickly as possible, Dr. Adel warned that doing so could actually damage the hair.

Dr. Adel said, “Your hair is actually most fragile when it’s wet.

“So rubbing with a towel can actually lead to more breakage — you don’t want to do that.”

“Rub your hair in a microfiber hair towel instead. This just helps absorb all the excess moisture without damaging your hair.”

5. Shampoo is only for your scalp

Meanwhile, she also advised that you should always “always” follow a shampoo with a conditioner (pictured)

Dr. Adel said, “Wash the shampoo off your scalp and that’s more than enough to clean the rest of your hair.”

Meanwhile, she also recommended that you always “always” follow a shampoo with a conditioner.

She explained, “This helps seal the hair cuticle, meaning your hair looks smoother and shinier.

“It also helps to improve the strength of your hair and also provides some protection against UV rays.”

The two videos she made collected more than 45,000 likes combined, and people took to the comment section to express their thoughts.
