Removing stubborn stains from clothing, bedding and furniture can be a strenuous and expensive job.

However, one cleaning expert has come up with a solution to save time, money and effort.

Hazel Mackenzie has shared a cleaning tip to remove deep stains from duvets – and it will only cost you £1.50.

The cleaning expert from Wee Scotty Cleaners shared one video to the company’s TikTok account, @theweescottycleaners, on March 10.

The footage, which has since been viewed more than 11,000 times and attracted 18 comments from delighted fans, was captioned: ‘2-in-1 duvet stains and cleans your washing machine.’

The clip shows a white duvet with a large orange-brown stain on one side.

Hazel bundled the duvet into an empty washing machine and said, “We got a really dirty duvet and you can see something has spilled on it.”

The cleaning expert then pulls out a bottle of Vanish and says she will spray it directly onto the stain on the comforter.

Hazel applied a generous amount and advised letting the liquid ‘sink’ into the stain – before revealing the key product that not only speeds up the stain removal process, but also doubles as a tool to help clean the washing machine itself.

She continued, “This stuff works great for maintaining your machine and also for removing stains.”

Hazel then turns the camera to the main product: a 500g tub of Duzzit Amazing Baking Soda, which is on sale at The Range for just £1.49.

She then selects the 60 degree ‘heavy duty’ option on her washing machine to successfully rid the comforter of the stain.

After two hours of washing, Hazel returns to the washing machine and produces a sparkling white comforter without any trace of stains.

She said, ‘That stain is completely gone. And do you know what we used? A little Vanish spray directly on it and also baking soda.

“You can put it (the baking soda) in your drawer, or you can put it straight into your drum.”

Hazel added, “This is baking soda, and it’s exactly the same as baking soda,” before holding the comforter up again to repeat, “That’s as white as white again.”

In response to further questions from fans in the comments, Hazel explained that she used half a cup of baking soda in her Cater mercury washing machine.

It comes after the cleaning expert recently revealed a way to recreate the effect of dry cleaning using a specific setting on her own Beko washing machine, which she recommended to viewers.
