Maura Higgins has revealed the heartbreaking reason she went into Love Island so angry in 2019.
The I’m A Celebrity star, 33, told how she found incriminating things on her then-boyfriend’s phone – which convinced her to take part in the show.
Speaking to Jane and Danny during Sunday’s episode, Maura admitted she had a boyfriend at the time she was offered to join the dating show.
Maura revealed that she really liked him, but one day she decided to search his phone – and wasn’t happy with what she found, so she started charging him.
She also said that’s why she seemed so angry on Love Island, because she was still furious about her ex-boyfriend’s betrayal.

Maura told Jane and Danny about her early career as a hairstylist and ring girl.
When Jane asked how she ended up on Love Island, Maura explained: “So I had a boyfriend at the time,” saying that she really liked him but she got the Love Island offer and one day she decided through his to ring the phone.
Unimpressed by what she discovered, she revealed: ‘I had a plan and not a word of a lie, when he went to the gym the next day I grabbed his toothbrush and filmed myself scrubbing on the roadside, he had a dentist appointment that day. !’
An amused Danny pondered Maura’s story, “You don’t want to mess with Maura!”
Speaking about entering Love Island like a bombshell, she said: ‘I went in like a bull in a china shop because I was so angry about that whole thing’
Jane gave Maura a high five and said, “You’re fierce! I love it!’
It comes after Maura’s stint in the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! jungle has already had a domino effect, with her arrival in Thursday’s episode causing a huge ratings boost among younger viewers.

Sources told MailOnline that Maura, along with social media favorite GK Barry, has seen young viewing figures for this year’s I’m A Celebrity skyrocket, with streaming on ITVX already up 21% on the previous series.
Thursday’s episode also attracted a more than 70% share of 16-34 year olds, a demographic consistently targeted by ITV bosses.

Upon their arrival, Maura and Richard were thrown into Jungle Junkyard, a simple camp with overgrown greenery and no luxuries, instead of the main camp.
However, after arriving and speaking to Ant and Dec, all was not as it seemed: a luxurious double bed, a container revealing a hidden large sofa, a cargo box opening with a large bath with bubbles, bath salts and hot water.
