- ITV insists each show is an ‘honest and accurate portrayal of life in the camp’
ITV and Nigel Farage are today on a collision course over ‘crazy dirty tricks’, amid claims the airtime of the Brexiteer’s I’m a Celebrity is increasingly ‘limited’ – and footage of him speaking about his friendship with Donald Trump has been released deleted.
Mr Farage, 59, who is among the favorites to win, appears to be appearing less on the show and his supporters believe ‘left-wing’ producers of Ant and Dec’s show are doing this deliberately.
MailOnline understands Farage’s allies are growing increasingly angry over “crazy dirty tricks” against him on the show and say they are consulting lawyers over his treatment. His assistants have sent a letter of complaint claiming the network violated a clause in his contract by showing him naked.
The former MEP apparently fascinated his fellow celebrities with anecdotes about his time with President Trump this week – but it never aired. A friend of the former politician tells MailOnline: ‘We are keeping a close eye on it. Something isn’t right. Is there a bigger game going on?’
Insiders also pointed out that ITV is happy to devote large chunks of airtime to campmates such as Fred Sirieix and Nella Rose, who criticize him over Brexit. Ant and Dec were also ruthless in their jokes about him being right-wing.
Viewers noted that he barely appeared in last night’s episode – only popping up to declare: ‘I love the jungle, it’s beautiful’ before the topless Brexiteer stuck his head in a bucket to wash his face.
Advocates have concluded this is down to his politics, with a GB News colleague claiming ITV is ‘starving’ him of airtime because ‘left-wing’ producers on the show ‘don’t agree with his politics’. It has been reported that ITV is concerned they will be blamed if he emerges well from I’m A Celebrity and becomes Prime Minister. A spokesperson for the broadcaster denied that he was treated unfairly.
ITV executives have today been accused of playing ‘crazy dirty tricks’ on Nigel Farage and increasingly ‘restricting’ his airtime on I’m a Celebrity
Insiders have claimed that Mr Farage speaking about Donald Trump was cut off even as his camp mates were fascinated
ITV even shared the joke on its I’m a Celeb Twitter account
The GB News presenter’s colleague Ben Leo has been sent to Australia and has spoken about what he saw.
“I’ve discovered quite a surprising revelation,” he said last night.
‘If anyone has seen tonight’s show they will wonder why Nigel’s only contribution was him saying ‘I love the jungle, it’s beautiful’.
‘Of course he is excluded from certain trials for medical reasons, he has an unreliable back.
‘I discovered that a few days ago Nigel had a discussion about his ally and good friend Donald Trump.
‘The campmates seemed very interested, but we didn’t see that on television.
‘Why didn’t ITV play that? You’d think, since Donald Trump is one of the most popular and controversial figures in the world, why didn’t they play that up?
‘It plays on reports we’ve seen in recent days that left-wing ITV producers won’t give him airtime because they disagree with him politically.’
Nella Rose accused Nigel of being anti-immigrant and claimed that black people didn’t like him
A good portion of some shows are devoted to Fred attacking Nigel Farage over Brexit
In episode 1 Nigel Farage drove a 4×4 and Ant and Dec joked that he was going ‘far right’
ITV has said they are not treating him differently or deliberately limiting his airtime.
A spokesperson said: ‘We are a 60-75 minute entertainment show and the content shown is an honest and accurate representation of life in the camp.
“It is always our intention to broadcast a program that is an honest and accurate representation of camp life for all our celebrities.”
