I’m a Celebrity Australia 2023: Shock claims reality show is ‘fixed’

Shock claims I’m a celebrity ‘stuck’ as the star claims her contract included a stipulation that Channel 10 can ‘choose a winner regardless of the votes’

A former I’m Celebrity… Get me out of here! star has claimed the Channel 10 show is ‘fixed’, claiming that a clause in her contract gave the network the option to choose a winner – regardless of who the public voted for.

Ajay Rochester entered the South African jungle in 2019 and is convinced the series has been rigged in favor of predetermined winners.

The ex-host of Biggest Loser, 54, shared alleged details of her contract over the weekend in a TikTok video, claiming there was a detail in the fine print stating that Ten had final say on order of elimination during her season.

This is despite the fact that eliminations are supposed to be decided by public vote.

“The contract says at the very end in very small letters that Channel 10 can choose a winner regardless of the votes,” Rochester said in the video.

“It also says that Channel 10 can decide when the contestants are eliminated – with or without votes,” she added.

Rochester subsequently questioned the longevity of certain I’m a Celebrity contestants, suggesting that contracted Channel 10 talent should be allowed to stay longer regardless of their popularity with viewers.

She also noted that celebrity chefs tend to make it to the end because they are the ones who cook for their camp mates, making them an essential part.

“Have you ever noticed that the chief is almost completely full? The chief who feeds all people. Have you ever noticed that it’s Channel 10’s mostly current talent that pulls it off?” she asked.

She suspected Love Island star Justin Lacko — who appeared on the 2019 season of I’m a Celebrity — was being groomed for a role on The Bachelor, one of Ten’s tentpole reality shows at the time.

But she claimed his poor behavior made it impossible for the network to continue and make him a winner – though she believes he was favorably redacted to maintain a positive public image.

“He was so lucky with an edit. He was a disgustingly pathetic, spoiled little baby… They painted him really well because I think they really wanted him to be The Bachelor,” said Rochester.

Rochester went so far as to say that one challenge was rigged for Lacko to win, giving him a record ten wins in a row.

She believes this was done to create a compelling storyline.

Rochester also revealed that all contestants are paid handsomely to appear on the show, and it’s not purely for charity.

In her case, she only participated so she had the money to apply for her US green card or permanent residency.

“Every celebrity gets paid and raises money for a good cause, so they’re not doing it for a good cause; they do it for money,” she said.
