I’m A Celeb star Coleen Rooney is praised for her ‘down to earth’ attitude as she stuns campmates by revealing her love of budget caravan holidays and Butlins

She’s no stranger to the beach, especially when it’s a long way from her native Britain.

But frequent flyer Coleen Rooney left I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! campmates were left speechless on Tuesday night after she revealed one of her favorite holiday destinations is significantly closer to home.

The mother-of-four, famous for her numerous exotic holidays, admitted she fell in love with Butlins after taking her children to the holiday resort of Skegness on a whim.

“It kept coming on the TV, Butlins, Butlins, so I went and it was Diversity going on, it was the May holidays I think,” she recalled of their unlikely visit.

Coleen, 38, revealed that eldest son Kai, 14, loved it so much that when he returned to school he told his teacher he had ‘the best holiday I’ve ever had’.

As Coronation Street star Alah Halsall revealed he went on a two-week caravan trip before flying to Australia, Coleen admitted he caravans with Wayne and their children in Wales ‘a few times a year’.

Reflecting on the entertainment at the caravan site, she added: ‘They used to have a band called The Hut, you’d take all your own beer, you’d all get up and sing a song!’

DJ Melvin Odoom praised Coleen’s grounded character, saying: ‘That girl is down to earth. I think I’m more bouji than Coleen!’

Coleen, Melvin and Alan also shared their experiences of caravan park holidays as children.

Melvin said: ‘My only family holiday when my parents were together was Scarborough at a caravan park and I loved it!’

Alan added: ‘That was pretty much all we did until I was 12. I never went abroad until I was twelve years old.

‘Every year we would go to this farm in the Lake District and it was just a caravan and there were fishing lakes and stuff, and we would go fishing or rock climbing and we would play hide and seek in the hay. bummed and all, it was unbelievable.”

Coleen said of her childhood: ‘We had one when we were kids, my dad bought it for £200 and it didn’t have a toilet so we had a dunny and we called it the p*** pot.

‘We got £50 back when it was demolished, so we got our money’s worth!’

During Monday night’s show, Coleen admitted that husband Wayne asked for her hand in marriage after they called a gas station.

She said: ‘I knew it was going to happen, but I definitely didn’t know it was going to be in a gas station, but I’m glad we didn’t do it in a restaurant, to be honest.’

Revealing the unexpected way the couple celebrated their engagement, she added: “We were only young so we went back and had corned beef hash instead!”

The media personality is currently the only celebrity to back tipped winner Danny Jones of pop group McFly.

Her odds have recently been cut to 5-2 (from 6-1), after the strong support she received this weekend – according to Coral bookmakers.

At the top of the betting odds is Danny Jones as the 5-4 favorite – although his odds have dropped from 4-5.

Reverend Richard Coles is also reduced to 11-4 (from 5-1), with Maura Higgins coming right behind at odds of 11-1.

Following Maura are GK Barry at odds of 22-1, Oti Mabuse at 40-1 and Alan at 66-1.

The bottom three are Tulisa Contostavlos at 100-1, Barry McGuigan at 125-1 and finally 150-1 odds for Melvin.
